    Default Movie=PG-13... forums PG-13?

I would like to suggest that some of the obscenity filters be removed or toned down on these forums, considering that the movie Avatar is rated PG-13, so the people here should be of an age where they can read such things as was said in the movie.

    Thoughts?

It would make sense, but the amount of profanity on the forum is much greater than in the movie.

also, the word filter is broken, as it seems to only work on english words, so if you use a name or word in a foreign language and manages to have a swear word in it, that part of the word gets blocked out.

I've seen cases where filters like that totally choke, especially in a live chatroom where it replaces words then it gets really comical. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not against filters but they shouldn't be set to blindly blank out, or replace words who just happen to have some "letter combinations" that results in normal words getting screwed especially if the censors are set to replace the offending letters/words with something else.

I've seen the word "specialist" totally hosed because it contains the word "cialis" in it. "Matsu****a", a Japanese manufacturer of essential electronics is another one because it contains an obvious 4 letter word.

The thing with word censors though is being able to defeat them, it just gets a pain the butt to keep adding filters for all combinations of swears and even swears in other languages.

Personally though, I dont think I've encountered the filters yet because despite being in construction and sailors I try to keep my dirty mouth to a minimum around others to help keep places clean.
