I think that the Main Reason the RDA Lost was Because they Massively Underestimated the Power of the NA'VI, Ikran and Etc![]()

The original question of why the RDA lost the final battle? Look to the wisdom of Sun Tzu, the RDA made many mistakes. They let the enemy choose the battle ground, let the enemy dictate the battle type, split up their forces in the attack, did not know their enemies true capability, made poor use of their own forces, had lousy operational security, relied on a single source of intelligence, did not have the same will to win/die as their enemy; the list could go on.
Their ultimate downfall was hubris. Overweening pride in their superior knowledge, technology and tactics over "fly bitten savages who live in trees." Look to the Viet Nam war for relatively modern parallels. Fighting the last war never won the present one nor helped in the next one.
All of this in spite of Jake's poor use of his own resources. He cost the Na'vi far too many lives and should be ashamed of himself. His mistakes are leading his troops into a headlong frontal attack against an enemy that had massive forward firepower, particularly a cavalry charge against machine gun fire. Until divine intervention kicked in, he simply sent all of his clansmen to their death for no reason, they weren't even a diversion. The RDA troops on the ground had neither tactical nor strategic reasons to be where they were. Ask General Lee about that whole "fight the enemy where he is" philosophy and how well it worked out for him in that Pennsylvania nature walk he took.
Both commanders were inept and relied on luck more than skill, even though both had sufficient knowledge to fight the proper "war" for their respective sides.
It cannot be denied that Eywa was the deciding factor. Jake could not have won without her aid and the Colonel would not have lost.
Eywa was the sole reason the RDA lost. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
