I saw the previews for it and I thought the blue people looked so corny I was actually embarrassed for the studio that produced it. I wasn't sure I wanted to see it, but then I kept hearing good things about it, even from my cousin and his friend, who is a total mainstream boring jock kind of guy, from a girl who worked at the theater, people all over facebook, etc. Then I went and saw it with my sister, kinda thinking "Hmmm, this might interest me a little/be my next thing to obsess over." Holy crap I was right! I still did think the Na'vi looked a little awkward around the real humans, but I totally got over that.

I didn't know what to expect at all. At first I thought they meant the tv show about the kid, but then I saw the actual trailer and I said it looked interesting. But now it's one of my favorite movies, if not the.

I didn't think it would suck but I thought that surely something in the movie would disappoint me. I knew the effects would be amazing, but I was reserving my hopes over anything amazing. After "The Matrix" came out, I had high hopes for the sequels and the 3rd one really let me down. I thought the dialogue would be cheesy. I'm very cynical and critical of the movies I watch, and it's a bad habit of mine to pick them apart as I watch them.

Needless to say, "Avatar" was spectacular and my expectations were blown away. Cameron was just so detailed, he left no stone unturned. I think a lot of the problems people have with it would be solved by simply paying attention and enjoying it, instead of outright looking for problems.

I don't worry about Avatar 2, though, look what Cameron did with "Aliens" and "Terminator 2", awesome!!

Let me tell you... I am old enough that I remember seeing Star Wars to a full house at the local mall theater in 1977, and gladly waiting in line to see Terminator, the Abyss and Terminator 2 as well as the the orginal Star Trek and STNG along the way. But a funny thing happened, life. I finished college, went to work, got married and had kids. Trips to the movies became less frequent, and when they did happen they typically involved singing mermaids or talking toys. What I did manage to see just wasn't 'it'. 'It' just wasn't the same. Don't get me wrong, I loved The Matrix, I adored Braveheart and the LOTR trilogy was awesome. I think I saw each once or twice at the movies at most. But then I hadn't 'seen' anything yet.

I went the first time to see Avatar under some pressure from like minded, like aged friends who really wanted see the movie, while I was admittedly indifferent. The soundtrack was awesome, the motion capture and effects in IMAX were beyond mind blowing, the character development was incredibly deep and the leadup to and the final "I See You" scene is THE best passage I have ever witnessed in any movie, ever. I have been to the movies more in the last 5 weeks then I had been in years.

James Cameron wanted to bring people back to the movies? He did it.

The only problem I have now is when I play poker, I can't say "I see your bet and raise you X amount," because that expression has a whole new meaning now.

I was actually forced to see it by my friends and I seriously didnt care or was interested in it at all and thought it would suck from the beginning

After watching the film, I can say happily that it has become my favorite film of all time and topping Lord of the Rings and many other greats in my list

My brother thought that it was going to suck but that was before we had seen anything and I personally think that he was just venting as he really wanted to see something, I knew it would be the best about 3 years ago when I first found out about it, I was already a huge James Cameron fan so this movie was something that I'd been waiting for since Titanic was released all those years ago.

I did. I thought the storyline was going to be really cliche and predictable (which I guess it kind of was) but the visual effects were amazing. I loved it. :D

I went to the cinema just for the effects...
It was just a nice box for something more

I went the first time only because a friend could not shut up about it. The trailers did not excite me at all, but then before avatar I thought 3d was just a gimmick. All the previous 3d movies were garbage in comparison.
