Default We need some RDA love here.

RDA is arguably the best "company" of any of the Cameron films. It easily rivals Cyberdyne and Weyland-Yutani for best corporation.

I personally can't wait to get my hands on some RDA merchandise. A mug, a polo shirt and dogtags would do nicely.

I mean, they're space-fairing, they have a private "security" force that rivals any military. Not every person there was even against the Na'vi.

Hell, without RDA we wouldn't have the Avatar Program and Jake would never get a chance to meet Neytiri and the people.

Without RDA there is no going to Pandora.

    * Corporate High-Five *

Afterall, we're just " Liberating " precious Unobtainium from these ( If somewhat clueless ) natives!

Not to mention that the movie would lack those wonderful one-liners.

    RDA is A-OK!

Might as well stand for "Research & Development Administration" given the science and engineering prowess they've achieved. Psionic links? Hybrid human-alien clones? Induced hibernation to endure six-year voyages?

I wonder if, on uninhabited worlds, they've subcontracted W-Y to put up the atmosphere processing networks.

Probably not since W-Y's "bioweapons" scandal. Or, more likely, W-Y is a wholly owned subsidiary of RDA.

    Get a facehugger on a Thanator . . .

i like the scientific aspect of the RDA if that counts ... having the school for the na'vi seemed really neat. and learning about all the different things about Pandora seemed like a dream job to me. i don't like the military aspect and the corporate greed of it though...

Even though i'm " Pro-development " and research. It's quite easy to see that the RDA only were interested in Unobtainium to begin with. The whole avatar program was probably just seen as a necessary expense - when you think about how much they would gain from the whole expedition.

Just asking; Do we really know that it was the RDA that developed cryo-stasis to begin with?

Seems like a good "resource" to "develop".

But who really cares -- they've got it and know how to use it!

Thing is, the RDA is there only for the unobtanium. It makes everything else viable in terms of cost. The avatar program is probaby tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars.

Also, I love how cut and dry they are:

    Cargo, inbound:

    1. Refined unobtanium. This is the ISV’s raison d’être. It takes precedence over all other items, including returning employees if there is no available mass capacity.

    2. Data modules as described above. Typical exported data includes the molecular structure of Pandoran organic compounds that may have medical or other applications on Earth. The data will be used to synthesize them for testing and eventual sale.

3.Samples of minerals and organic compounds for further examination back on earth.

    4. Small Na’vi artifacts to be sold as collectables to wealthy individuals for extremely high prices.

Even for a big futuristic faceless mega-corporation. That's cold.
