Yeah, Norm was never a combatant.

Unfortenently as brave as he was being He got taken out.

You stand out when you are the only Na'vi using a machine gun. You then become a high value target and are eliminated quickly.

yeah, their the orginal concept art for the weapons. Note however the CARB rifle was suppost to use caseless ammunition but this was later changed to cartridges.

You have a point 'Itan although I ment my comments to be about the physics of bullet design and ballistics (I love physics) and not about killing stuff. After 28 years of death and carnage working for the fire dept. I'm not particularly interested in killing anything, even bugs (cept maybe mosquitos when they attack)....

Proly wanted all those cases flying out of the weapons for "dramatic effect". Is what people expect to see when someone is firing a weapon. Caseless ammo is supposed to be the future of military ammo tho I'm not sure if I'd want to use it in my 300 mag.. Was an article in the paper yesterday about engineers @ the Sadia National Lab. in New Mexico (U.S.A.) have managed to develop a self-guided bullet. Now that's right out of Sci. Fi.. It's lazer guided and can hit a target over a mile away.... Be afraid! Be VERY AFRAID! Never cease's to amaze me how much effort and inginuity humanity is willing to expend on killing each other...

Interestly even after they changed the weapons to cartridge they're still odd, this thing was square casings! Take a look (and thanks Wameyn for sharing this with us):

Also, note the way the ammunition is stacked in the magazine, sideways! seems in this gun the bullet is rotated round before being inserted into the breech. That seems slightly more complicated than it needs to be.

Remember the RDA Sec-ops need several rounds to take down anything. They need the extra ammo. Putting it in sideways makes it easier to put 80 rounds in.
But your right it dose seem more complicated then it needs to be.
