I have read a bit on the Venus Project. It sounds fascinating but what I am not sure of is their high endorsement of technology as a solution to all problems. This has not yet ever worked - so I doubt it can work that way. The change that has to happen is a social one and I do not think increasing technologcal advances will make a positive impact on this. Still - it is a much better concept than just going on as we did up to now.

On Hawken - I don't think eco-capitalism would work. The system is flawed and eco capitalism is just a weak attempt to save the system by applying it to even more areas. What comes nect - social capitalism with the well beeing and happiness of people beeing assigned a monetary value? Who is going to decide what monetary value a lake has or clean air or the rays of sunlight on my skin?

I do not think humans are inherently destructive - it is the lack of comprehension that wisdom and respect have to be applied to the ways they relate to each other, their tools and Nature that turns into destruction. The lack of these values in interactions between humans is the foundation of this destruction. To change these destructive ways, a new foundation has to be laid, even if that means to shake the building that is standing on it.

It could be done.... however it would probably involve upsetting or removing a lot of these technological people who like their cities and cars and stuff. If you were rich enough you could buy large areas of land and turn them into forest, that would be a start although probably only JC himself has the money to do that on a scale that would work. You'd need to be completely incorruptible so that you wouldn't sell out for anything.

i think it is possible. but like tarnished soul said. you need a lot of money. and people who want to change their life that way. it is easy to say that you want to change your life. but if you go without anybody. i think it isn't that easy as you think.

i love the idea but i dont think. (not in the beginning atleast) i will go there. maybe after a few weeks.

Going without anybody? No, that is crazy. Few people would do such a thing. Humans are social beings as the NA'Vi and both need people - a group, family, tribe,... And no - it certainly is not easy to live differently. But many things are possible.

^WoW, Sanjwale you posted this the day you joined AF and guess what? two days after you, I joined too Good 'old' days, when i found this forum that opened my mind so much and fascinated me, because i wasn't alone anymore I swear it feels like years ago, so many things have been said here, amazing... Anyway, I haven't followed the discussion, but I liked the name of the thread, and like what this guy 'was' up to, a year and a a half ago, nice drawings, and nice project, pity all our words vanish slowly... It's sad to see all those people that joined in January, that all stopped coming after a few months... I'll be here
