According to what I have come across, quantum entanglement communications is impossible in reality - "under orthodox quantum mechanics, you cannot use entanglement to send messages. The very act of trying to send a message would break the entanglement." (source) - which is a disappointment!

Well they have 15 ISV's Traveling from Pandora and Earth at a time. I am sure communication is relayed between the ships.

Most likely. Well either that or:

But seriously even with ship-to-ship relay, the time needed to get a message from Pandora to Earth and vice versa will still be a major issue and would render the system impractical.

Assuming they can even use the system. Such a system would need a trained operator and security to prevent unathorised operation (at least to prevent accidental interuption of a message. So what stops RDA simple taking the access codes/key with them when they pulled out. This could mean that the Avatar team would only be left with light speed communications.

Still I feel that Avatar's superluminal communication is sufficent. While you can say goodbye to detailed documents, simple text messages and code words/phrases would probadly give you a view at the situation situation on pandora (ore production, casultity rates ect). Unfortunely you couldn't give a good picture of the decaying relations between the na'vi. This could lead to the situation at home when the news breaks that government gets the impression that the war was unprovoked. the message: site cleared minimum native casulties, gives a completely false image of the destruction of the hometree

More likely the message would be something like "s1c" for site one cleared.

Although quantum entanglement has been demonstrated in the lab, there are several issues (several which have already been brought up). In the fantasy, it is nearly instantaneous though notoriously slow and hideously expensive. Though the reasons for these is never fully explained.

    If I may posit:

Theoretically data cannot be transmitted faster than the speed of light, though how the universe knows the difference between random spin switching and induced is still a mystery. Since neither energy nor matter can be created or destroyed, only transferred, how can the message be destroyed, is garbling considered destruction?

A relay of ships passing the message would still restrict even laser communications to the speed of light. Besides, the ISV's only travel a fraction of the speed of light.

One would think that even should quantum entanglement be feasible, they would likely be manufactured in discreet pairs as opposed to a network. Aside from an initial purchase cost, why would it cost so much to transmit? Energy cost? How much energy to switch an electron from an up spin to a down spin? How about buying a dozen of them and synchronizing your bits and bytes transmission, send the data faster by series parallel?

Just a thought. It is the future though...kinda.
