i dont have anything against people with other opinions.. when they do not show their opinion in an ignorant and offensive way.

Why are the streets so full of nonunderstanding people... this is really getting tiresome, no matter where you are, they always appear and keep complaining....

Well, the thread title asks ways to cope with the depression. Here's how I do it:

    • see it again and again and again in the theater
    • the sound track (I ripped the CD, cleared winamp's playlist, enabled looping and pressed play; I stopped counting the loop on sometime after 50th play)
    • read the extra books (field guide, etc.)
    • browse and edit the wiki
    • participate in forum discussions
    • rewatch trailer(s)

Because, at this point, there isn't pretty much anything else that can be done. Until the release of DVD/BluRay. But even that won't take away all of the depression. Because you know you can never actually go to Pandora, as it exists only in our imagination... sigh... :(

First of all, I'm new here. Hey.

I watched Avatar for the first time yesterday (movies take ages to get to my side of the world), and the amount of heart and soul that must've gone into creating this world simply amazed me.

As (I've now discovered) many people were affected by the film in much the same way that I was, it makes it easier to describe to you guys how much of an impact it had on me.

I've always been an environmentalist, and watching this film has served to reaffirm my beliefs in this regard. Luckily for me, I am at a crossroads in my life, in that the start of my university career is but a few days away. Avatar reminded me that money is not a measure of success, and that I have a chance to sacrifice some of it in order to help make the world a better place (essentially, a place more like Pandora).

Conservation ecology, renewable energy, forestary rehabilitation and the reduction of mankind's impact on the environment are fields which are becoming more and more important, and hopefully Avatar's underlying message of environmentalism has reached and affected more than just me.

Thats a big thing I have come to realize. Money is not a measure of success. I have found myself now instead of looking to get have a career that pays very well, to something that actually has a purpose, and meaning to it.
