A tin case version Fko? Wow... We haven't had any offerings like that over here. Mind you I did get a free T-shirt, mini survival guide and 3D cards with the first DVD release, so in all fairness, it's your turn to get the goodies!

I got the impression from the beginning of the thread that you could only get the statue version if you bought a Panasonic 3D TV!?!?!

You got a free T-shirt and 3D cards besides the Mini survival guide, you lucky so and so.
I'm sure you'll see the film cell and such over your way as well mate, I'd be checking out your local DVD shop as these babies have to go on a pre-order list, well I was told they need to know the numbers.

When Avatar was first released on DVD someone put up a link to Play.com and I just followed it. I got a little worried when I visited the website afterwards had they had sold out. But I still managed to get one. So I feel quite fortunate. In fact I'm wearing said T-Shirt now!

I managed to get the Limited collectors edition form Play too, but I think they ran out already. Shame really. There must be some many disapointed folks out there. I would have thought they'd have done a few more for folks. I mean if you add up all the people on all the Avatar fan forums I bet you'd be able to sell them 10 times over!

Are there three different versions of the Collector's Edition? One version with "only" 3 discs, one set including a book and a film cell and the "Ultimate Edition"?
Avatar, version longue - Coffret 3 DVD + 3 Blu-ray - Edition limitée & numérotée avec statuette + senitype + livre Blu-ray: Amazon.fr: Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Zoe Saldana, Michelle Rodriguez, James Cameron

Already ordered the Extended Collector's Edition (the one including book & film cell) for 47,97 euros. I really expected it to be more expensive, but everything went better than expected, lol.

Hey beaniator, welcome to the forums. Hope you have a long and pleseant stay. I know I have. I ordered the same one last week.

Rody, irayo for the link. It appears here in the UK the Ultimate edition has not been made available. Possibly because I think they will be selling it if you buy a Panasonic 3D TV or something in December? Duno...

Perhaps the 'ultimate' version with the statuette (ta for that link as well Rody) will be released a little while after the limited edition has gone who knows, If you guys in the Uk aren't seeing it and no word of it over here as well, I would surmise it will come a little later, after all if it is available, we should see it, as they (the distributors) will want to wring out every last dollar LOL.

BTW welcome to the forums Beaniator hope you enjoy it here, and yes 90 pounds does seem a lot for that edition I agree, as the limited edition here is worth about $70 Aus. and the Aussie dollar is buying around 60p at the moment.

Lets do a conversion for the limited edition, if it contains the 3 disc set, a 'making of' booklet and a film cell for $70 Aussie, that would be roughly equivelent to 42 British Pounds. But you guys are getting some signed stuff as well is that correct? What are the guys in mainland Europe, Canada, the U.S. and elsewhere paying for their limited editions, or are we in Australia getting the least amount of goodies yet again sigh, and about a week later as per usual, gotta laugh.

BTW not trying to be negative, I now just wondered and thought it would be interesting to see what we are all paying for relatively the same limited edition around the globe after conversion rates.

This is what's extra in the limited edition version in the UK:

    • Packed in a Limited Edition, numbered solid box with exclusive alternative artwork
    • Includes exclusive film cell, printed with the signature of director James Cameron
    • Includes the stunning hardback "Making of Avatar" book, unavailable anywhere else
The whole thing costs £89, by buying the book seperate from the collectors edition you pay around £40. I wouldn't be surprised to see copies of the milm cells on ebay a few weeks after it goes on sale. The film cell can only be the size of the box, would it really be big enough to warrent being framed and hung on a wall.

Thanks for that SpacePhoenix, yes there is definitely considerably more in the UK limited Edition, as the Australian one only has a 'making of' booklet, the film cell, I surmise no signature, but as Beaniator remarked about it being a print of the sig anyway.
If the hardback 'making of' book is the same one that came out last week, then it will be well worth the asking price, as that book is quite good.

In regards to hanging the film cell on the wall, I would suspect, most typical wall mounted cell pieces already in wall frames have a larger picture of the movie and the cell sitting at the bottom of the frame, but this single cell piece would still be nice though.

    You're welcome

    German Extended Collector's Edition:
Verpackt in Sonderverpackung mit exklusivem Artwork
    Exklusives 35mm-Bild
    44-seitiges Buch
Packed in a Limited Edition with alternative artwork
    Includes exclusive film cell
    Includes a 44-page Making of-book
Costs about 48 euros (about 66 US$ and £42, correct me if I'm wrong). The german box doesn't seem to be numbered and seems to have a different artwork than the UK version.
