It was a super movie. Lots of fun, great animation and attention to detail.
I find ironic that so many fans have gone off the deep end with a movie that was created by "we" crappy humans on our crappy planet. It sure is a statement that we wish things were otherwise. Huge Eco anti-corp, anti-war flick. The movie's premise is hardly new (bad greedy white man/Corporation/Republican/soldiers/humans, etc invades primitive tribes utopia). The story has been around since movies were in black and white. HOWEVER, Cameron took it to new, astonishing level and upped the anti from a jungle paradise to a new paradise planet..

All the flying creatures in Avatar , have very advanced motion capture and animation technoligy that includes stress modeling on the creatures bones , flight physics modeling that includes a fluid like simulation of the air flow around the creatures wings and body flight physics modeling and stress and flutter on the wing membrane, even the creatures breathing is modeled and can be heard in many cases. the ikrans are all unique with no two being exactly the same. and yes most of the creatures realy would fly there are people that have built RC models the Models shown do not have exact wing design(the real thing can flex the wrist bone in there wing the model cant)

An advanced model like the "festo smartbird" can flex its wing like a real bird its not a hexapod like most creatues from avatar
