    Default Familiar music style!

    Hello.

Ever since my first viewing of Avatar i thought "some of the music sounds SO familiar", in fact that is the music which, upon hearing it (even without watching the movie along with it), gives me goose bumps.

And then it hit me - now i know where i knew it from!! But it took me four viewings of Avatar to figure that out

See i am a computer user, not a gamer. And i use Linux. So there are not a large number of games on my machines, however there is one that i play from time to time, this is called "Planet Penguin Racer" (older versions known as "Tux Racer").

And the soundtrack of that game is what initially hooked me to it, too!!

And it is SO similar to some of the music within Avatar...... same effects/"instruments" and similar melodies even.

Anyone here using Linux and playing that game? What are your thoughts?

    Kind regards.....

Thanh *grabs headphones and fires up Planet Penguin Racer*

I always though of titanic when I herd avatars soundtrack, the part where "near, far wherever you are......", ya that kind of thing.

Here's another very close similarity... These are my favorite tracks form Titanic and Avatar, and they serve a very similar function in their respective films. They're both the "Wow! Look at this!" music, in a sense.

I hear the similiarity. Its been a very long time since I have heard the Titanic soundtrack so I had forgotten the music. The Iknimiya track and Jake's first flight are my favorites from the soundtrack although they are bittersweet since you know what will happen next with them and you know what sort of conflict is going through Jake's mind.

There are parts of Apocalypto that are almost identical to Avatar. James Horner did the score for that too.

Well the trailer itself has The Island theme in it.
I also remembered the amazing theme that came after hometree collapsed because I knew it from somewhere but I can't remember lately..
