That's the only way to send messages that far within a reasonable timeframe. And yes they did.

So, I'm assuming that it takes over four years for messages to get from Earth to Pandora (or vice-versa). That being the case, most 'news' is going to be pretty irrelevant by the time it arrives. Personal messages will be another matter, of course. I would imagine that the RDA would select people to go to Pandora who had the fewest personal ties, but there would surely still be some. The people there are going to be far more interested in news from family and friends than in the currents events abck on Earth.
For me this is the most reasonable response.

anyway, transmission technicalities out of the way (I did suggest this in OP) wouldn't the RDA CORPORATE MONITORS have scrolling ads on them (for the drones) that showed the corporation meshing with the Na'Vi in a classic LYING fashion that these 'blue monkeys' were willingly mining the unobtainium ore for their human counterparts???

We should have seen some of the RDA Propaganda on some monitors at some point... for example, in the extended edition, with Sully on his back in the gutter, overhead some leg-spread chick ... that would have been a perfect place for PRO-NA'VI-HUMAN brain washing.

You know, the staged Avatar-in-tribal-gear footage that would have made it back to Earth for the LAST FIVE OR SIX F***ING YEARS already... the stuff that corporations always do their self-promoting delusional marketing. But also on the mind-washing-intra-net of the RDA HELLGATE.

    Ya know?

Well, I could see there being tons of propaganda on Earth. But why bother with it on Pandora? The RDA people there would know the truth and to have a bunch of blatent lies on the screen would only erode their confidence in the RDA telling them the truth about anything?

You obviously haven't seen proper propaganda. True propaganda is perfectly reasonable and inspires trust in the authors.
