When Toruk Makto gatheres the clans he mentions more than 20 clans if I remember correctly (sorry if I'm wrong ^_^) I wonder if that is nearly every clan on the planet or if it's just some, because in any case, they couldn't have come from too far across I'm guessing, because there wouldn't be enough time to gather all of them in the same area, hardly a day there was before the battle started :( And quaritch talks about more than 20.000, altough he is talking very approximately at that point... Anyway, I'm curious to know, do you reckon there's millions? or a billion even? I really can't tell :D it's such a beautiful vast planet, I wonder how many Na'vi there are, it seems like each clan has enormous portions of the moon then

i've always wondered this myself...how many clans? are there nations or territories? how many Na'vi are there and do they all have a connection or belief in Eywa? hmmm.....

Quaritch: "Now, these orbital images tell me that the hostiles' numbers have gone from a few hundred to well over 2,000 in one day. And more are pouring in. In a week's time there could be 20,000 of them. At that point they will overrun our perimeter."

Jake: "I have 15 clans out there. That's over 2,000 warriors."

Now that means that there would be about 150 warriors per clan. Depending on the ratio of warriors per clan, a clan is probably between 500 and 2,000 souls.

20,000 warriors would mean 150 clans. If we suppose this number represents the totality of the clans of Australis, the greatest southern continent of Pandora, that would also mean between 75,000 and 300,000 Navi on this continent.

Now, the diameter of Pandora is 11447 km (wiki). That means a surface of roughly 400,000,000 kmē (4*Pi*rē). Given the fact that the ratio land/total surface is greater than on Earth, we can speculate that half the surface is land, that is about 200,000,000 kmē.

According to what I have always read about Pandora, the continents are much smaller than on Earth. So, if we gave Australis the size of Oceania (about 10,000,000 kmē), we have a density of Na'vi between 0.0075 and 0.03 inhabitants/kmē, that is a world population between 1,500,000 and 6,000,000, if every square kilometer of land is populated by the Na'vi.

I think there's no calculation error, but even then, all this is complete speculation!!! But for a society of hunter-gatherers, I think it is reasonable number, but I may be wrong of course. After all, if we are 7 billion people today, it is primarily because of agriculture...

Pointing out that a character is not perfect is hardly douchebagging! It's simply how she came across to me - I was not insulting her.

I'm sure he didn't mean you, there was a troll post in this thread before tm20's post, so pretty sure it was directed forward the troll.
