If you haven't read this script, I highly recommend it to you. It's another version of Avatar that is more developped on some points and goes deeper into some characters. The final script, which had given the film, seems sometimes a little incomplete or too Hollywood-like compared to the first version.Originally Posted by _Omaticaya_
The deleting of some characters like Hegner or Parrish has, in my opinion, a little impoverished the scenario. The simplification from "You've got to make the Na'vi work for us, because miners are too expensive" to "You've got to make the Na'vi leave their home because their tree happens to be on the richest deposit" is a shame. The second seems a little too coincidental, and we know from the beginning that the destruction of Hometree is inevitable. In the first script, this destruction is absolutely horrific because there is no other reason than revenge...
It is clear that James Cameron had very important time constraints and everything couldn't make it to the final cut. But if more ideas of this script had been included, I'm certain that some Avatar detractors would have kept their mouth shut, because it would have added lots of new concepts and parallel stories.
I know I have a little criticized but don't get me wrong here, Avatar is and will stay the best film ever (at least until the sequels)! After all, everything is perfectible.
This script is available on the CE blu-ray but it's not very practical. It is also here. There must be a pdf version somewhere on the web (because I have it on my computer) but I can't find it...
i have always disliked when the script,or detractors, haters, movie critics, have referred to the Na'vi as primitive....grrrrrrrrrrrrr. yeah, like our stinking society and 'civilization' is so much better than the Omaticayans. yeah, okay. you don't see the Na'vi screwing each other over for a percentage, and killing each other in the name of some man-made idiotic religious death-cult.
let's see....i have to fight insane drivers in rush-hour traffic 5-6 days a week, work a mind-numbing useless job so i can pay The Man his blood-money taxes, pay for food, clothes, rent, more taxes, money for car repairs and registration every single year of my stinking life, breathe in all this pollution and carcinagenic waste we have put in the atmosphere, and oh yeah, wait for the doctor to tell me i have one of 453 types of cancer on terra,or i could be a 'primitive' Na'vi who live off the land, always have food, clothing, and shelter, and everyone in the clan pulls their weight to the greater good,no cancer,no rush-hour traffic,no insane horrible bosses,no irs breathing down your neck for a percentage. who's the bitch now, humanity??!!!!

~ Thank you prowler for this amazing sig~
I would definitely have included the following three scenes in the theatrical version:
the abandoned school
the scene where Grace tells Jake about the incident at the school involving Silwanin
Tsutey's death scene
Note: I did like the film, but it definitely needed more character development.
