last week (or maybe the week before) i finally saw Pocahontas for the first time (along wit Pocahontas II) and i do see the similarities but Pocahontas was released in 1995 (so im guessing it was created in 1995 or 1994) so there is only one explenation.....Disney ninjas snuck into where the Avatar script was kept, read it and reported back to Disney, sneaky bastards >_>

number 2 isn't that good so if you're not going to bother watching then this is what happens

    ************************************************** *******************

we see John Smith supposedly being killed, meanwhile back in North America after the first one the british decide to setup a small town where the tribe lives and to ease tensions between the natives and the British Pocahontas is invited to meet the king who lives in London. she is taken to london by John Wolfe (the real man who actually married Pocahontas, yes this is a true story) and she has to learn to act "civilised" to prove to the king tht they aren't savages but the villian from the first one wants this to set to fail. so during a party where Pocahontas must prove herself they have some entertainment and they start torturing a bear and Pocahontas stops it and the king sees she is still a savage. she is locked up and word spreads of what happened. John Smith who is actually still alive hears this and goes to save her along with John Wolfe. they all escape and Pocahontas goes to the court and says something, convinces that the real villian is that dude and they go after him. in the end Pocahontas must choose if she wants to go with John Smith or John Wolfe and she chooses John Wolfe

There's also that movie with Colin Farrell, called the 'New World' that basically covers the two movies that you have written there TM20.

...and yes also in agreement regards, glad they never tried to attempt making Avatar before, but then again, as James often says, that he just sat on the movie until the technology was available to do it justice. So glad he had the foresight to wait.

Irayo _Omaticaya_! Just wish I could cook up films like James Cameron has!

Hey, tm20. You missed the most important bit of your summary. Something so important that the time/space continum would stop! Something that every Disney movie must have...."And they all lived happily ever after...!"

ACTUALLY..... the real story of Pocahontas and John Wolfe didn't end happily ever after, on their way back to North America Pocahontas became sick and died :\ i guess it was appropriate for them to end it with a scene of them sailing off to North America

Well there you go, the disney happy ending int the sunset. Never let the facts get in the way of a good story. I seem to recall there were quite a few instances where natives were brought back to see the King.
