Jakes Video Log Dates

Anyone else notcie the date on Jake's first video log at the lab before his avatar is decanted says 5/19/2154 and the date of the his last video log, the night he becomes a Na'Vi through Eywa is 8/24/2154? That means the total time elapsed is 96 days? Or 3 months and 5 days.

Just thought it was interesting...

I still don't think Jake gave any intel to Quaritch about Hometree or anything else after the first, on his third day on Pandora. Grace removed Jake from Quaritch right after that. It's obvious because Quaritch intended to yank Jake out early and send Jake back to earth before Jake became one of the people.

yeah interesting... I honestly have always wondered why its made explicit by Norm at the beginning that they would be there as researchers for 6 years, yet the day after, Jake is in the forest already as a gunner, and a few hours later, in Hometree ^_^ well, then it's correct, since they give him 3 months for his new 'assignment' as an undercover agent basically -___- but Only Toruk Makto could have changed his destiny in such way, going agaisnt Rda, and basically everyone, and any plan or corp, to be one of the people and protect the Omaticaya <3<3<3

I still don't think Jake knew the bulldozers were coming. We don't know the details, but there is a scene when Jake is eager to get back to Neytiri the morning after mating when Grace is holding Jake up by force feeding and asking him the last time he took a shower? They obviously didn't know the bulldozers had arrived. So, something was cut from the movie that would have cleared this up. Also, I noticed the bulldozers came without EVER giving Jake the chance to tell the Na'Vi. They didn't even ask Jake's team "ok, time's up, where we at? Have you talked to them yet?" So, something because of time constraint is left out. I don't think Jake was as traitorous to the Na'Vi as some people first thought, including myself.. The extended cut offers a whole lot more info but still could have used just a bit more scenes in my opinion. I mean really, you cant get enough of Avatar.

Another detail I can't quite make out: Just after Selfridge asks what the hell have they been smoking out there, Quaritch pulls up a video log of Jakes. On that video log is a date! I can't quite make it out on my monitor from the DVD but maybe someone can from higher rez blu ray? It either say 6/13/2154 or it says 8/13/2154. If it says 6/13/2154 that would make it to be Jake's 25th day. Well short of the intended 3 month diplomatic mission and he has already realized the mission is failed one way or the other. Not necessarily in a bad way he just knows that the Na'Vi won't give up Hometree peacefully and fears it becoming all stick. In this sense Jake knows very early on that it will become "all stick". Exactly when, how he probably doesn't know.

But, if it says 8/13 then it's only 11 days before he does his soul transfer through Eywa. He does say everything they sent me out here to do is a waste of time meaning Quaritch, Selfridge and Grace. Either way, he already knows the mission is failed and admits it. Three months would still have been six days away. ANd, the video log was sent just a few days before he mated with Neytiri. This doesn't quite explain why they just sent the bulldozer's in without having a sit down meeting with Jake about approaching the Na'Vi with a peaceful offer or later at least tell Jake and Grace the bulldozer's were already there and clear cutting.

Yeah, it's true that they never really intended to be correct and give Jake that last chance, they couldn't wait to use 'stick' the bastards, they just wanted to get them out the way and shut them up... So Jake didn't even get a chance to talk them out, even if honestly, I never thought they would move anyway, and they'd be right, just because they tell you to, the Na'vi aren't puppets following orders. And yes, Jake realized his was a mission impossible thing, way before the 3 months and that video log, he was just holding it all in, afraid and worried all the time of that time when he had to end his 'mission'... Only Grace and Norm Trudy and Max at the most knew it too and we're just waiting for the worse to come :((( But as I always like to say, it all went well at the end, The Omaticaya won and Pandora is free But Grace and Trudy left us...

That's right, all's well on Pandora now. I remember Jake had said he was warrior who believed he could bring peace. He really thought he could solve the dilemma. Which in part justifies him keeping quiet about the mission to the Na'Vi. Jake said in that video log he was sent to bring peace and he knew it just wasn't going to happen. Not in those words exactly but that was the jist of it. Jake decided way before that log he was meant/wanted to be with Neytiri and the Na'Vi. Quaritch used it out of context to justify military action. Yeah, the bulldozer's coming was a genuine surprise to Jake because the sky people never gave Jake time to warn the Na'Vi.

When Neytiri asked Jake if he knew this was going to happen he had to say yes, anything else would have been a lie. But the Na'Vi never gave him time to explain himself before he was bound and the Na'Vi were screaming for war. I think Jake knew "stick" was inevitable since that August 13 video log and that he was not what he thought, a warrior that would bring peace. But he knew where is allegiance was.

I am responding to the initial post:

It is true, Jake had only three months to start his job as an Avatar driver and send the RDA packing. After his initial contact with the Navi, which would have occurred shortly after his arrival, Selfridge and Quaritch are debriefing him in the command center. He was told by Quaritch that he had three months, “That’s when the Dozers get there.” Jake knew about roughly when they would arrive. It is my belief though that he had a lot on his mind and time was not part of it. I am sure he was not party to the RDA’s full plans other than his knowing it would happen.

He is also known to have given Quaritch plenty of information. There is the scene prior to going into the Halleluiah mountains where Max discovers him giving the full structural layout of Hometree to Quaritch and some of his men in the command center. When Jake comes back after “being lost in the woods”, Quaritch congratulates him on the INTEL about the Tree of Souls. Even during the scene where Selfridge asks about “smoking out there,” Quaritch pulls up a bunch of reports on the monitor from Jake that he had access to. So even though we see Jake becoming one with the people, he is still performing the task that Quaritch originally sent him out to do. It is during the scene of “lost in the woods” that we find he has been reporting a lot less than what was expected of him as the weeks went on.

Jake knew the “stick” was coming. When he became one with the people, he believed he could negotiate some sort of peaceful compromise. But his timing and personal beliefs where not in accord with what the RDA wanted. Once the realization that it was all “stick” anyway, Jake makes his choice to side with the people.
