    Default Grace not in Denial

Back in April I started a thread questioning why Grace didn't seem to be taking any steps at all to find the diplomatic solution that Selfridge wanted (i.e. getting the Omaticaya to move). I called it "Grace in Denial" Grace in Denial

Well, now that I've watched the deleted scenes in the CE I see that Grace wasn't in denial at all--all her work to avoid war got cut out of the movie! And those were some really good scenes, too!

The removed scenes paint a whole new picture for the behind-the-scenes plot lines, both for Grace and the Avatar program as well as the RDA and the mining operation. Overall I felt that the scenes were probably left out to tone down the portrayal of humans and focus more on the Na'vi side of it. Cameron wanted it to be focused on a positive environmental message and not a negative social commentary on the "evil corporations"

I think that most of the deleted scene should have been in the final cut . The "Driving range" deleted scene is great it's short and tells a lot, James cameron should have put it in the extended collector cut ! We can see Grace not in denial caring for the Na'vi, trying to speak to selfridge under the rain, She cares for the Omaticaya as if it was her own family and the first learning montage show it when her students count her fingers and she laughs with them. or the "You're in my world now" scene where she explains that because of that son of a bitch (quarich) the omaticaya don't want to talk to the humans anymore. I loved all the new deleted scenes in the bonus features with Grace !
