Default August 24 - Jake's 'Birthday' - Significande of dates in Avatar

Trying to figure out if there is any significance to August 24 in regards to being used in Avatar.

The year 2154 is probably because it is exactly 200 years from James Cameron's birthday year, and August because he was born August 16th.

So seeing if there was any other reasons for the August 24th date:

    Here's the wiki link:

August 24 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The other would be the day of the destruction of Hometree which is August 13th (I believe I have that correct), which one significant item is that is considered the date of the start of the Mayan Calendar according to one source.

August 13 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Any thoughts? Or any other date correlations that members have noticed?

Getting back to simple basics, little by little, day by day, my world is getting better and better. Starting small, while out walking, cleaned up some garbage. Got my hands dirty helping my neighbor plant grass seed, grounding by covering in dirt, and spraying with laughter and water. Renewed relationships, mending broken ties. Imparting fragrances that Happiness Abounds.

August 13th? 13 is usually viewed as a very unlucky number in some cultures, so it may have been picked because of that view. If it was on a Friday, well....
It means "Wind Rider" in Na'vi.

    August 24th isn't necessarily Jake's actual birthday. It's the day he's reborn as a Na'vi.

You're wrong that the destruction of hometree occured on August 13. The last entry (actually, the last before the attack) of Jake's videolog was on August 13 and not the destruction itself. The next day he was at the Hell's Gate with Quaritch and maybe this evening he became one of the Na'vi. then the wonderful night followed and the awful morning when he was arrested and taken back to the Hell's Gate. So the destruction of Hometree should be on AUGUST 16!!!

    Which would be Cameron's birthdate - Ok - that's why I wasn't sure, but the tie-in is interesting~

    Thanks

Funny that the first quote is from when he has his passage into manhood ceremony, but he doesn't really earn his place forever. It's not until he is literally reborn as a Na'vi/Avatar that there's no going back. After that he is one of the people forEVER.

Pretty cool info, I'll have to write it on my calendar and get a cake.

Anyone find anymore interesting dates? I suspected that those video dates had some meaning since he clearly intended us to see them.

What a nice Cameron connection, director paying homage to his own birthday within a movie.
