Would you give up your Earth life to live on Pandora?

Truthfully, if you'd asked me before Avatar, I would have said no, but it has made me realise just how unhappy I am with so many aspects of life. Sure, I'd miss friends, family, places, the internet , but now I still think I would. It wouldn't be easy, but if it was possible, it would be something I would do.

For those of you who want to go mainly because you like the link/tsahalu idea, soon they will have electronic neural interphase devices that will mimic it's effect for some extent, but it will be a dark mockery of the joy of the soul's connection to the great mother goddess. Do not fall for it lest you loose all you are for an illusion of the real thing.

You have an organ in the brain called the pineal body, on the Na'vi the neural fiber bundle likely attaches to it for more direct transfer of information required because of the very strong geomagnetic fields present. In us humans this organ has the POTENTIAL for the same function as the neural interphase, but it uses some sort of energy that is very hard to detect using scientific gizmos, but rather easy to detect subjectively especially once you figure out how to turn it on.

FWIW Eywa is real. She told me that i can go to her world when i am done with the work that needs to be done on this one.

For the first part, I agree entirely.

For the second part, This is exactly what I have been thinking about (to some extent). I have been thinking that someday, there will probably be a way to grow a tsahalu (perhaps from stem cells) and attach it to your brain. Of course if we find a way to transfer someone's mind into a different body then I would probably be easier to genetically engineer a new body with a "naturally" (that is in quotes because it would really be natural) occuring tsahalu and then transfer the person into that body. I know that if either of these where possible and had been proven successfull, I would definetly consider it.

    Hey, I'm already doing it.

I moved away from my family to a place where I can live most in harmony with nature. I'm not alone and I find new ways every day to bridge that huge gap between the human world and the natural world.

What's funny about this post is that if you give up your "Earth life," you will find yourself in Pandora. That's exactly what it takes.

    Good luck!

So after my last post, I read up on the Pineal Body/Gland... there would be no point in connecting ANYTHING to the pineal body. Also on Pandorapedia.com this is what is said about the Tsahalu
Perhaps the most distinct characteristic of Na'vi anatomy, indeed that of nearly all Pandoran vertebrates, is their neural interface. This is a roughly meter long appendage that protrudes like a slender, flexible tail from the base of the skull. It is informally known as a Lekku, in reference to the head tails of the Twi'lek species from the Star Wars films. Running through the center of this appendage is what amounts to a second spinal cord, which itself runs through a second foramen magnum at the base of the skull. This bundle of nervous tissue connects directly to the brain stem at the same location as the spinal cord that communicates with the rest of the Na'vi body. However in one sense, the neurons terminate at the base without connecting to anything. In another more profound sense however, they connect with everything, allowing the Na'vi to communicate almost telepathically with all manor of creatures from direhorses to banshees when physically linked. It also allows them to commune directly with the worldwide neural network of trees that they refer to as Eywa. What has not been observed to date has been two Na'vi linking with each other, this behavior is integral to mating and is considered confidential between mated pairs. It is not openly discussed in Na'vi society, and xenoanthropologists have only learned about it through half whispered rumors.
However, My post still holds true, that it may someday be possible to create (grow/genetically engineer) a Tsahalu.

Everyone has to move away from their parents and start a new life at some point, for me it has happened recently now that I am in college. With that in mind, I would deeply miss my family, but none-the-less I would go to Pandora in a heartbeat. While I love this world, it is the people that I do not. If I had the chance to go to Pandora and become a Na'Vi then not only would I be a planet 100x more beautiful than Earth, but the society would be better and more simplistic. Of course I would miss some luxuries (such as a toilet/shower/etc) but nothing is gained without something else being given up first. For me there is no question, Pandora 110%

I think for a chance to travel to Pandora, I'd do it, but to give up on Earth is just futile.

You have to realize that the world of Pandora is virtual, meaning its everything we wish we could have on Earth. Who's to say that Earth wouldn't transform into Pandora over the next several million years... maybe not exactly like it, but its a possibility.

Earth is what we have - and we take it forgranted every day, this is one of the main themes conveyed in Avatar - Live life to its fullest, become part of something larger than yourself, and see both sides of the picture, both good and bad...

... remember that Jake was fear-less in part because he was in a 'shell' and in a state of 'virtual' reality - he KNEW that what he was doing wasn't real until he saw the effect of the Na'vi being attacked.

... Now that he is inside of his Avatar, and he is part of the Na'vi, he doesn't get another second chance, and with all the threats and dangers lurking around the hostile planet, I would be hard pressed to say that the survival rate of the Na'vi is low until they reach adulthood... further emboldening the fact that Jake actually survived through his training makes him that much stronger of a character in the movie - His PURPOSE was to save the Na'vi, and become their leader... again, this is part of the script, not reality.

Something that should have been expressed more in the movie is the fact of the perils that exist on Pandora... just about everything is poisonous, meant to kill another species if threatened... this would take YEARS to understand, not to mention that this is only a small portion of the planet... No planet is without war, and I'm sure that even the Na'vi contest land rights between tribes. They are a peaceful race, but still, as seen in the film, when provoked, they have the ability to defend and hold their own...

... I love Earth, and cherish every moment I'm alive - I believe that Earth is one of a kind, and we need to learn to take better care of it. Everything non-man-made is alive, breathing, and moving... we need to learn how to take better care of this place and remember that life in itself is a gift...

The future of this World is NOT written in a script, its in our hands...

I would not hesitate to leave this place for the chance to live as a Na'vi.
Be one with nature and one with the people.

On earth there is so much sorrow, pain and destruction and for what. More money and power and it doesn't matter who we hurt/destroy in the process of getting this as long as we get it.

To be able to communicate with those that came before us, hear their story and learn from them would be a dream come true. To be able to connect with another Na'vi like Jake and Neytiri did and really have a soulmate for life.
