Not sure about the recent past, but definitely back during the Jurassic era. During it the Earth was pretty much entirely rainforest (like Pandora), and things like the Quetzalcoatlus roamed it.

There are still rainforests on Earth. They aren't quite the same, but they're similar.

Possibly, all we can do is speculate I'm afraid but as Tsyal Makto said about during the Jurassic era (is Jurassic the right word, I'm not sure but meh) it may have been similar.
And you'd know wouldn't you what with being there all those years ago....Originally Posted by grifff

I think the Earth was once Pandora - and is, in some ways. Humans changed the Earth into a more "modern" place, and went too far - but they also changed, the process is mutual. The soft Pandorrean glow of plants, animals, rocks and everything else, this "bioluminiscent activity" is present here on the Earth, call it bioenergy, or auras, or whatever. It's our human eyes that unlearnt to see it, but it's there, although maybe weaker because of many factors. Some people have this "seeing" capacity active, and almost everybody has it latent, but it can be awakened. (I am quoting Joseph Ostrom: You and Your Aura. He was seeing coloured light around everything since he remembered himself, luckily for him his parents wouldn't tell him: "Leave this daydreaming - you are a big boy". He was quite shocked to find out that not everybody sees the world like him! He was about 20).
There are also devices that can register those "biofields", like Kirlian camera. I saw my own aura on this camera, and I was impressed
So, in some way, we are actually living on Pandorabut we don't SEE (many of us don't some do).
I've just remembered one interview with James Cameron, I am quoting by memory. He said that in Avatar he made his bet for the BEAUTY. Didn't he succeed!
this man is a genius and a visionary, the more I read his interviews the more I respect him. Chapo![]()
In a sense yes! In the Bible it talks about there being a garden of Eden that God created! It was filled with exotic plants, animals and who knows... maybe Na'vi. I think Pandora is out there. Why would God make all of this (universe) and only have us running about!?
