The Structure of Hometree

I hope this is in the right sub-forum. Apologies if it isn't.

I was just wondering if designs, plans or schematics of Hometree exist. I believe that where a people live informs how they live. And as such I would like to come to a understanding of the structure of Hometree as it was, in an effort to tell me a little more about the Omaticaya... and the changes that might occur now it is gone.

Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated! Otherwise I am just going to have to start piecing it together from footage fragments. And I will.

I think pandorapedia said it wasn't just one tree it was many trees that grew together in one spot and ended up forming a massive 300m high tree.

Thank you very much for the link. However, I was actually looking for more specific information. I have already checked the pandorapedia (and avatar wiki) for it and so far have had no luck. What I am wanting is detailed plans. A layout of the meeting places, living spaces, area by area descriptions of how the Omaticaya live within the grove that comprises Hometree. In the same way that you can't look at the outside of someone's house and know what goes on inside, looking at an external image of Hometree makes it pretty hard to see what goes on inside too. The wiki talks about:

The tree is honeycombed with natural hollows and alcoves in which the Na'vi sleep, eat, weave, dance, and celebrate their connection to Eywa.

That, for me, sounds like an interesting thing to explore.

I had hoped that maybe such things would appear either in the Field Guide or Movie Scrapbook, the Art Book or even in the game. If they don't then I think I may well end up trying to reconstruct it from footage. It will be a nice project for me .

i dont think there is actually some <plans> of the structure yet, unless we get it from the creation part of the movie. I never crossed anything that could help you on that so far, still searching for quite a few things to quench curiosity but if anyone find it im pretty sure they will be happy to help you!

I am sure that they would. The people here are some of the most helpful that I have ever encountered, not to mention the community spirit! A lot of love and commitment here!

If they do not exist then I shall have to see what I can do about creating them. Being a scientist helps with some jobs, thankfully. In the meantime if anyone has access to fairly clean and clear footage frames (such as those on the pandorapedia and wiki) and could point me in the direction of them then I would be much obliged!

I'd imagine that something along the lines of blueprints for the Hometree are something that JC didn't delve into when doing the design, so there probably isn't anything official out there.

I agree that it would be cool to have a plan-view of Hometree. Maybe they'll create an "Avatar Technical Manual" (like the Star Trek Technical Manual) where they define blueprints, designs, etc.

I don't know about that. Something about this being a generally very complete act of world-building suggests to me that there should at least be something. And as it is 3D, it suggests to me that if it doesn't exist then it has no effect on anything we do see in the film and that he never had any shots planned there. Now that doesn't feel right. I think official elements may well exist, if we ever get to see them or not is a different matter. In the mean time I am working on my own models. Using information given on the Pandorapedia, the wiki and in the script it is possible to get a vague idea of scale, using average Na'vi size it is possible to deduce a little more.

A long but rewarding job, I hope.
