This is a discussion thread about: Pandora... Maybe not so peacefull? inside the Pandora forum, part of the AVATAR Movie Forums category. Originally Posted by DeMouse What you mean like Smallpox? Polio? Bubonic Plague? Malaria? assuming the na'vi don't have real medicin. ...
This may be the solution to this problem. Having an environment without bacteria/viruses that can cause disease seems impossible, but if we say that Na'vi resistance to disease is much higher than mans so that most diseases are reduced to minor effects (minor flu or the common cold); then we have a solution that is reasombly realistic. I also remember a line about Na'vi that live in the swamps evolving to deal with the extra diseases there.

there's even a group of prostitues in Kenya that have developed immunity to AIDS and they have passed this genetic trait onto their kids so...

well to me, you really don't seem to enjoy the world of Avatar and why you stick around the forums makes no sense to me but i don't have a problem with it :P as long as you don't trollThe only *** I'll kiss is my alliance executor and my CEO. A world with no bacterial or viral infections makes no sense.

There are many dangers on Pandora, and one of the subtlest is that you may come to love it too much.
Why are plants with antibacterial properties so difficult to imagine? They cut off microorganisms before they have a chance to spread. At least that's how it worked in 880 IIRC.
Or everything could have the super-strong immune systems you guys mentioned.
I'm personally holding out until JC releases the next canon piece.

Why would a plant evolve into a disease killer? Disease resistant maybe, but then said disease would mutate and evolve into something more potent to get through its increased defenses. No plant would ever evolve to combat illness that other species might suffer, it just doesn't work that way. Again, Pandora being illness free would be an example of writers will, it makes no logical sense, but that's the way it was written.

and after that that plant (or another, doesn't matter) is going to evolve in something that can resist that. how can we be still alive after thousands of years without medicine? probably because whe could protect ourself agaisn't the viruses.
