Default Pandora... Maybe not so peacefull?

I know my words very well may be blasphemy to most of you. I just want to say that I do not intend to troll, or make any of you angry. I just want to discuss a certain theory I have about Pandora.

I saw how every creature on Pandora had that specific neural interface. This.. Reminded me of the USB ports on computers, but much more advanced. It allowed for everyone to literally upload their thoughts and memories into the connected network of trees across the planet, much like how a flash drive plugs into a computer to transfer files and folders.

I find it interesting that it took a military man (an ex-marine) to unravel some of the key elements of Pandora, and I also find it strange that his twin would be a scientist. Perhaps it is that combination of genetic brilliance, and learned toughness, that created him to be the perfect candidate...

At any rate, Pandora dispatched fierce animals to attack the various 'ground troops' that the humans sent out, and quite successfully orchestrated a way to expel the human 'invaders'. If my idea is right, then this means that Pandora is not only just a biological computer... But could also be a weapon.

Perhaps a weapon of interstellar proportions.

At any rate, it is quite obvious that nothing on the planet, or almost nothing, is a natural phenomenon. I believe that the creatures with the so-called 'USB ports' are all genetically engineered, along with the plants and trees that exhibit the neural interface. So, if Pandora was built and designed... Then what was it built and designed for?

This theory kinda blew my mind. Sounds like a great plot device for some sort of fanfiction!

If Pandora itself is not a weapon, perhaps it could be the computer 'brain' behind a weapons system.

Hmm, dunno. I'm into writing stories and all that, but... Usually my stories have to do with travel between parallel universes, and my little group called the Interdimentional Police.

Hmm, brain waves are electromagnetic in nature... Could very well be that Pandora is a bomb that works on several dimensions. XYZ/T dimensions, UVW... Perhaps along different spaces as well (S axis)...

    Heh... I'm such a nerd.

I was thinking more along the lines of an invasion force, the ultimate invasion force, soldiers that are built to rip ou t your intestines and eat your babies while you watch bleeding out. Pandora is not nice.
I wish that we could stay here, but I fear our time has come, and we shall ride out in the darkness, chasing the rising sun.

Scientists once aimed the great Hubble Telescope at the black featureless silent void between the stars. As they peered into that black abyss, they were blinded by the light of a billion stars shining from a trillion galaxies. This universe is not empty, but bursts with worlds as yet unseen and unknown.

Meh, not really. The inhabitants don't seem like they'd go for that knowingly. I'm thinking something that goes on in the background, giving Pandora a harmless, peaceful look... Right up until your planet is destroyed by it, or perhaps your whole solar system.

    What about Second-life avatars?

A real advanced alien race create this "Paradise" where you can escape from your boring life and be an free animal ou maybe for the VIP a real Native!

Something get wrong and they end locked up in the new bodies, a long time skip and they forget all about before and we have Pandora

wow, i never thought of Pandora as a weapon :O good points. The USB port theory is something I agree on, the organisms can upload and download thoughts to each other or to the tree of voices (which would be the hard drive i guess). But going back to the weapon thing, to me i still see it as a mechanism that maintains equilibrium rather than a weapon. Like Neytiri said "Eywa does not takes side, she only protects the balance of life". Interesting thread
There are many dangers on Pandora, and one of the subtlest is that you may come to love it too much.

Interesting idea, I've considered it a fair bit, too. It would be a cool twist if Pandora was indeed intelligently designed, with the Na'vi, Eywa, and Pandora being the result of some long past technological singularity that occured on Pandora. Most of the time when people think of a post-singular race, they get the image of something like the Combine, but this is another possibility - where organic technology trumps non-organic, and the race chooses to "relax" into a simpler, more natural way of life. The movie did get a lot of positive feedback from the transhumanist community.

Well, the thing is, Eywa is likely the operating system which controls the operations and conditions in/on the computer. It is the operating system's job to allocate resources, and manage processes, and so forth... So in this sense, Aywa is not taking sides at all. Aywa is merely making sure that the computer stays operational, and to reduce damage.

However, the people operating Aywa may be very different, and may be using Pandora to fight and destroy all they want. Aywa merely does what it's designed to do.

Well, it's obviously designed. The way that everything is overgrown with plant life, though, may suggest that it's been abandoned and not used for some time... Perhaps the Na'vi are the surviving members of the race, and don't know what is up... Or, they may also be just part of the computer. I have a feeling that the original race wouldn't have the 'USB' plugs in them, except via surgery... yet the Na'vi have them naturally.

In that one scene in the movie, it has those stone arches that were just... Perfect, mathematically formed. The tree that was bombarded to the ground was itself very well formed and engineered... Perhaps it was an original construct. Or perhaps the original architects mastered genetics, and grew their own buildings... Sorta like in Doctor Who, the Doctor once mentioned that the TARDIS was grown, not built.

Who says anything about the Na'Vi acting as an invasion force? They have morality. A bear has no morality, it is an amoral object, if you are between it and its objective either you will move or it will move you, violently. A thanator is a natural tank, bullets only make it mad. It has no morality, it reproduces and takes care of itself and maintains itself. It is the perfect bio-weapon counter to modern day mechanized armor. With the planet-mind to direct the invasion, the ultimate army.

The stone arches were ferrous and were created by the flux field during the cooling of the moons formation. Just like solar flares but much smaller.
