Well in our lifetimes I guess there would be a better chance of something like a virtual reality Pandora that is able to simulate it so well that it seems real. As for interstellar travel, my guess would be that they try to work on cryo( if someday they can "perfect" it (even make it work better than it does in the movie) then maybe to could go on a 100 year trip to Alpa Centuri and to you it would be just like a big nap.
