Same here, it was predictable but everything worked out the way I wanted it to. Well.... except Trudy dying, that kinda sucked

trudy :(. not that she had to die to do this, but i think her death made it easier to see what a hero she is. i wish she had survived.

I soo agree. Especially with the part you said about the Characters being critized as "flat" and "over done". I have read so many negative reviews on Avatar regarding the characters- especially Jake. And I can't say I agree with any of them.

So you hit the nail on the head =]

There are fanboys/girls who just think this movie is super awesome just because of its presentation, there are insensitive douche bags who just think the first of something is always best, and there are the intellects who notice the inherent beauty of something based on subtlety and simplicity. That's you. I've definitely encountered people who have argued the #1 point constantly, and they only come off as ignorant. What I severly dislike is how people say it's cliche and it's been done before. First of all, like you said, it really isn't. But really, is simplicity and predictability all that bad? I don't think a movie filled with countless twists and turns would actually be all that fun, sorry. It's the emotional impact that this film has that makes it so great, and simplicity has all to do with it. We are afterall, simple human beings with simple virtues hidden within a complex design. What these ignorant people are saying is basically like saying that any new modern pop song made is not good at all because the first modern pop song was already made. And we all know that this is entirely untrue. One of the greatest aspects in the film is it's rhetorical effects used under all of the CG and acting to capture the essence of the story and message Cameron is trying to send us.

Hey! What a nice compliment! Thank you! I completely agree with everything you said. Especially about how this movie doesn't need a ton of complex twists and turns to grab our hearts and how its simplicity (and underlying complexities) aren't a fault.

Well hey, you deserve it. I only feel obligated to give praise to where I honestly deem it fit to be given.
