Default A sacred tree on earth

reading in the Penguin book African Myths of Origin (p368), i find the following apposite account of a sacred tree:

''...they worshiped at a shrine dedicated to a deity called Chunburburai, who was believed to be housed in a tree, and the tree was surrounded by an enclosure which none might enter save Barbushe (the leader of a people),...It was fortold that a man would come, who would take power from the descendsnts of Dala, and that the tree would be uproted, the shrine destroyed and a mosque built at that spot...'

It's sad to see how the major religious groups are tyring to dominate every aspect (autarchy). Just take a look at the Inca-religion, which was eliminated by christianity. Tear down a sacred place and place the symbol of your "civilized" religious orientation on top of it... awful

And sad that to this day, since ancient times, they still fight one another over beliefs - things that aren't real knowledge. Everyone wants to claim authority on the truth yet very very few have ever even expperienced it.

i think in ancient times almost everything was intended to have a "soul"
for example in Greek/Roman mythology spirits of the trees were knowed as Dryads

inside every tree was a Dryad...these spirits were the soul of the tree

    here more info
Dryad - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's just a ride and we can change it any time we want.
It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money,
a choice, right now, between fear and love.
The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your door,
    buy guns, close yourself off.
The eyes of love instead see all of us as one.

'It was foretold'? As in a prophecy?

Im surprised noone here has shown any skepticism toward that assertion

Natural phenomenon have been personified and worshiped by almost all early cultures! Monotheistic religions are a very young invention! Look up the Celts and Yggdrasil!

To pin preservation of the natural world on superstitious and emotional reasons is folly, we have enough scientific reasons to do so, only problem is most people don't act on that. Emotions, which religions do stir, are obviously a great motivator, to get masses of people to follow a certain agenda, but if you don't back up your ideology with facts, it can easily be undermined by an charismatic leader. We've seen it happen time and time again in history! The only thing that doesn't rely on arguments of authority is science, which is therefore the only way in my opinion to facilitate permanent and real change in peoples awareness.

One religion replaces another all the time, they are all just fairy-tales dreamed up by people to explain that, which they have no explanation for! What science has given us is the knowledge that the Universe is much more complex than those religions and myths could ever be, and that no matter how much we make up fairy-tales about the world, that doesn't make them true! Of course the message hasn't gotten through to everyone yet
