    Default Na'vi and seeing this....

Just something I find interesting. Imagine them seeing the 20th century shuttle fly. Raw Sound and Video from STS-135 - The Final Launch of Atlantis - YouTube

The Valkyrie is cool and all, but to me, not as majestic or as spectacular as watching a present day space shuttle fly.

The old mine near Hell's Gate is a good spot to put a replica of the shuttle launch pad. :D Just like in the vid, from Hell's Gate that is what would be seen. The raw power of the launch. Hell yeah.

Wow... I must admit that watching that was really, amazing, absolutely... Looks so incredible it seems unreal... I honestly don't know what the Na'vi would think of it... They'd be afraid, who wouldn't be afraid of a huge noisy rocket, an object they've never seen or even remotely imagined before ^_^ The first time they saw some jets and engines and propellers, it was helicopters and ships coming to destroy their land so they definitely got the worse impression possible... Anyway, superb video mate, thanks, and I happened to watch a related video to that, dude, it is UNBELIEVABLE, even better... Space Shuttle Launch Audio - play LOUD (no music) HD 1080p - YouTube

    I've seen that vid before.

They'd be freaked out for sure. Not to mention the small animals flying away from the noise. Neytiri and those who know of human tech would know what was going on.

You make a great point MarkD, when I was in Florida a couple of years ago I was at a restaurant next to a window on a pier in Daytona Beach and all of the sudden there was this large flash of light and something was taking off from Cape Canaveral, it was amazing to see a rocket flying at night, it lit the ocean up beautifully but at the same time it was also a very eerie sight because I wasnt sure what was launching or why. I found out later from NASA's website it was called a Delta II rocket and launched a missile defense satellite into orbit. It was 60+ miles away from me, I couldnt hear it but simply the sight of something launching like that unexpectedly was a bit frightful for me, I got online on my phone to make sure something bad wasnt happening and it wasnt some sort of missile. Watching anything like that from a Na'vi perspective would be very scary indeed.

while i like some human tech and such things as space flight, the space shuttle, satellites, and stellar exploration,i seriously doubt the Na'vi would see anything of merit in our technology as all it does is consume vast amounts of resources and fossil fuels and is for the most part, highly incompatible with mother nature, whereas everything the Na'vi do,is in sync and balance with their surroundings.

People who built this and actually use it,would probably not be impressed by a gliding brick launched into space on millions of pounds of hydrogen, lol

Well part of the shuttle is green energy, it's main engines create water as exhaust. That rust colored external tank holds the liquid oxygen and hydrogen the engines use as fuel. Now the boosters, they do create all that smoke as is obvious.

    I like this vid of STS-117. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvbK9...eature=related

One of the interesting things about the space shuttles is that the sound the solid rocket boosters made as the shuttles launched was essentially the same frequency that bull alligators use during alligator mating season when they would rear up out of the swamp and bellow. Male alligators do this for two reasons 1) to tell other males "Hey, this is my turf, back off!" and to tell any and all female alligators around that "Hey! I got the biggest "turf" around here, come on by and check out my turf! You won't be disappointed!"

So when the shuttles launched during alligator mating season, every male alligator within a hundred miles of the KSC would think the shuttle was just a really, really loud alligator and would start bellowing in response.

Imagine the frustration all those female alligators must have felt ...

i think most of the Na'vi wouldn't care for our technology, they would probably curse it. but there's always that individual in a group that's fascinated by new things and i'm sure they would love to know about tawtute technology :D

I'm pretty sure if the Na'vi saw it fly by, they would think the RDA was coming back to attack.. I know i would anyway...
