Na'vi fighting style?
In the movie we see Jake kicking Tsu'tey's butt with almost insolent ease.
Yet Tsu'tey was, if not the best, then definitely among the top- ranking warriors in the tribe.So this brings me to this question: Do the Na'vi have any non- lethal fighting tecniques? We see some body-flips and swatting with bow, but these appear to be mostly for clearing space around you and bying a few seconds to draw your knife. So do Na'vi have any martial arts, and if not, why? They seem hot-tempered enough.
Jake is a former marine with "MMA" fighting skills. He's familiar with more than one style of fighting (they train you very well in the corps) so he has the edge over Tsu'Tey, who only knows how to fight na'vi style, which is pretty much how our ancient indians fought. There's only been Na'vi on the planet so they weren't exposed to other fighting styles like here on earth where we have Kung Fu, boxing, kickboxing, jiu jitsu, etc, etc.
That's my opinion on it but they just didn't expose enough in the first movie. Maybe we'll see some crazy fighting skills in the next one.

Jake's a former RECON Marine - he wasn't just infantry, he was one of the best in the whole Corps. And soldiers generally are trained to kill, not make points in a ritulized fight. I would hazard a guess that when the Na'vi fight (or at least, the clans in the area of the movie, given we can hardly making comments about how the whole SPECIES acts) there are set actions and it's more about point-scoring and honour and such then getting down and just stopping the other guy before he hurts you.Originally Posted by grimsoncrow

if the Na'vi do have a fighting style it's probably something similar to Capoeira.
There are many dangers on Pandora, and one of the subtlest is that you may come to love it too much.
In the making of, Zoe said that she had to learn Wushu for the role, so I would assume the Na'vi use a Wushu-influenced form of fighting.

Going from Tsu-Tey's figh with Jake, I assume the Na'vi fighting style involves head your oponents fist as hard and often as possible.
I can't say this for a fact but it is more likely than not that the Na'vi have no knowledge of hand to hand combat. We never see them use their bare hands in a fight with the exception of the final battle where Tsu'tey grabs a few soldiers and tosses them off the Valkyrie but that is hardly hand to hand since he was mostly using his bow to fight during the assault on the Tree of Souls before he got shot. Everytime we see a Na'vi fight, it's always with a weapon, like the bow and arrow, or a knife.
Tsu'tey is a master with the bow and arrow, he takes down a sturmbeest like it was nothing while everyone else (besides Jake) is having a hard time doing so. He and his war party were able to defeat several AMP suit troopers using bows and arrows after the RDA destroyed those trees of Voices, but in hand to hand, he's completely helpless against Jake's mastery of close hand to hand combat so I don't believe they possess any knowledge on fighting with only their hands.
