Default Is "Dear John" demographic same as "Twilight" fans?

When "Twilight" came out as a big hit in 2008, I remember the demographic surprised a lot of people because it was females from the age of like 13 to 55 or something. I'm wondering if the same chick flick group came out last weekend for "Dear John". I expected "Avatar" to be knocked out by "The Wolfman" which opens this weekend. I'm surprised "Dead John" did as well as it did.

It didn't do that good...there just hasn't been too much out there lately. I think next week it will drop dramatically due to word of mouth. I heard it was awful...my friend saw it who is in the demographic you're talking about (16 year old girl) and she gave it a 2 out of 5.

2/5, that's pretty bad. I like Amanda Seyfried, but I saw Channing Tatum in the GI Joe movie and he can't act worth a crap.

New Moon is more female and younger skewing than Twilight, which was already extremely lopsided (the opposite trend to Harry Potter, interestingly enough, whose audience has grown older with the movies). Yet Dear John is far more female and even younger than the Twilight series.

It won't be nearly as frontloaded as Twilight though. That was completely crazy.

Also, the WOM for Dear John isn't bad. You can't quote just one person and use that as evidence of something. Cinemascore is an exit polling firm that finds out how much people liked the movie when they came out of the cinema, and Dear John got a B+. That's far from outstanding, but it's good.

Wait. Isn't that merging two separate statements together to mean one?

I just thought navifox had heard from a few different sources that 'Dear John' was not good. You made it sound like the 'word of mouth' she was referring to was one review from her 16-year old friend.
