    Default Vanguard: Tiger Farms

If you love tigers or find them fancinating creatures I would recommend watching Vanguard's episode, "Tiger Farms" which takes an inside look into illegal trafficking and poaching of tigers for their parts and skins and how it leads into China, desprite the government pressures on the trade and stocking of tiger parts.

I do have to warn there are graphic scenes, including a tiger being killed in the beginning. It's very sad and shocking.

I'm watching it right now on Current TV.
It means "Wind Rider" in Na'vi.

the chinese government are just a bunch of corrupt MFs. i saw a documentary on the tiger fur trade and anyone caught selling it is meant to be arrested but the people filming this doco went to tibet where the chinese army is present and the soldiers were buying tiger fur coats. as for the tiger farms, the conditions just suck. it's just a concrete field with metal bars to lock them up. all they get killed for is their bones to be used as medicine....some bull**** i tell you.

It's not just China either; it's also happening in Burma, Laos and other countries surrounding China. Why? It's mainly because of the money and the fact that it happens so much in the open.

There was one guy on the documentary who was saying that they should be open about the tiger farms and create a bigger supply from them to lessen the impact of tiger hunting in the wild and would eventually cause tiger wine and that kind of stuff to die out. The problem with that is that people who are into that kind of stuff are convinced that farmed tigers are not as potent as wild tigers, so even if there was a dosmeticated tiger population it still wouldn't cease the demand for tiger parts at all.
