Even if the justice system isn't on their side, it still is a reminder of a nightmarish situation. About how the vices of our world has managed to destroy a once proud and prosperous culture, a culture that thrived on this land for thousands of years before Europeans settled it...and now they have been brought to this lowly state?
Even with no legal standing for them, this is sad, very sad only.![]()

Everyone goes on and on about the first "African American" president... how about people wanting a NATIVE American president?
I only see it as fitting for them to have more power than anyone who is a decedent of settlers. Unfortunately that's not the case.
I do feel bad about how the Native Americans were done and of course we see this as a result and it doesn't make you feel good.

Everyone here should have equal power.
As someone who is a large part American and a large part settler, I don't see why people beat themselves up over the acts of their ancestors. Yes, it's sad and horrible. But the past is over, unchangeable, and different. Even if your ancestors claimed Native land, or your country did, you did not.
Nothing in stays the same. Should we hand power in France back to the Celts? Power in Turkey back to the Greeks? Japan to the Ainu? Haiti to the Taino?
Those places are a much the homes of the Franks, Turks, Japanese, and Haitians now as they are the homes of the Celts, Greeks, Ainu, and Taino.
The settlers are settlers no longer, they have lived here for 400 years and call this home.
I just think that my Patuxent, Meskwahki, and Lakota families have as much of a right to live and hold power here as my Swedish, German, and English families. For both peoples this is home.

Exactly, but you guys are missing my point...
We didn't do anything to the Native Americans...
Everyone thinks having an African American president is such a big deal and why is it a big deal? Oh, that's right the whole slave and oppression thing. The Native Americans had it worse. I don't owe Native Americans anything just as much as I don't owe Black people anything because I did nothing to them. So why is it that having an African American president is such a huge symbol to everyone? When having a Native American president would more significant. That's what I meant... here's why.
I've had conversations with young Black people in their teens and early 20's who talk about slavery and oppression like it's still taking place. I've even had many of them say they should receive "financial compensation for how unjustly their ancestors were treated." That's why many of them feel like they're entitled to welfare (their words not mine). Not realizing had it been any different many of them wouldn't even exist. I've had that conversation before... Me; "If your ancestors hadn't been brought over here you wouldn't exist." Black person; "Yeah I would!" Me; "So if your ancestral grandfather and grandmother were never brought together through slave trade you believe you'd somehow still exist?" Black person; (pissed off silence). Not all Black people have slave ties here, but many Black people believe that because they're here that can only mean their ancestors were slaves to White settlers. I've asked that question before too when a Black person was binging it up I've asked them if they had slaves in their family and of course they don't know.
Native Americans had it worse in my opinion. Black people were already slaves before they left Africa they were enslaved by their own leaders and the civil wars that existed back then still exist today. To come from a country where you are already a slave to a new country where eventually your people would be free is a much better story than being an indigenous tribe taken over and forced into a new way of life by outsiders after many of your people were slaughtered.
Either way I do not owe anyone anything because I didn't do it. Hell the Hebrews were slaves for more than 2,000 years. Every race on Earth has had slavery and Black people try to make it seem like they're the only ones. I am shocked that some believe early European settlers went hunting for slaves and captured Black people to bring them over on slave ships so they could do the manual labor White settlers didn't want to do. The only problem with that theory is we had Native Americans here so if the early European settlers wanted to turn people into slaves we would have turned the Native Americans into slaves. Hell, if Black people want to be pissed at someone they can be pissed at their own African leaders or even the Egyptians who were using African slaves thousands of years before there was ever a Black slave in America.
I'm just tired of people playing the blame game and the finger always gets pointed to early settlers. It's partly the basis of why people hate the United States because of the fabricated history and misinformation that has been put out there about us and what we've done to everyone. I didn't do sh!t. I'm not racist and I believe in equal rights for everyone. I feel bad for what happened to the Native Americans... I feel bad for what happend to Black people... I feel bad for what happend to the Hebrews, but I don't feel responsible.
