Many of the animals seem to have two receptors. Makes you wonder.

OK, that makes sense.
Even if both have connection strands, it's possible that when one is connected the other doesn't work. I believe we only saw people ever attach to the animal's left queue however, so it may indeed be that only the one works.

Yea thats what I always assumed. I don't think it is possible for two to connect to an animal at any one time.
all the animals on pandora also have two of them. the navi only have one. and they cant move it like the direhorses or the ikran
