Is it just me or is the story very similar to "Ferngully - The Last Rainforest".

I mean...
Boy human comes from the city
(sam coming from earth).

Meets a fairy and creatures of the forest
(sam meeting Neytiri and the navi).

Boy falls in love with the nature and girl fairy.
(Sam falling in love with Pandora and Neytiri)

Humans destroy the forest for a precious material
(Humans destroy the forest for untanium)

Boy, Fairy, and creatures of the forest team up to stop the humans
(Sam, Neytiri, and the Navi team up to stop the humans)

Is it just me or is there a connection?

I've seen this comparison many times. Ferngully was something I watched long ago, and I rarely remember it, but yes, very similar plotline...

...But I have a feeling Cameron didn't have the slightest thought of this movie when he originally wrote the scriptment in '94.
