Wink I've Just Seen Avatar for the Second Time and...

It's still the greatest movie of all time! Its Astonishing, I liked it even more the second time, I saw things I didn't see the first time, it's such a beautiful movie words can't descibe it, you taken to heaven and back, and that's kind of the only way I can describe it, its almost spiritual, im still just on this high, and i want to go back to Pandora Now! but what gets on my nerves are some of these so called movie critics saying it's just a spectacle with no story, that's rubbish! I LOVE THE STORY I really do, I think it fits the movie perfectly, there's so much emotion, my girlfriend was crying more the second time, but let's get real here, how many movies do you see come out that has a totally 100% new idea, that's never seen before and at the same time becoming a box office? Not many I can think off, a storys a story and there's nothing wrong with Avatars either, infact there's not many movies about humans invading another planet and plundering there resources, is there? I find the story facinating and there's so many places you could go with this franchise, bring on Avatar 2 and 3 is all I say, the best movie ever made..

Ive seen it 5 times now, actually watching it now lol, but think about it, why are we having wars, we're basically fighting ourselfs, its just stupid, also, think about James Cameron, Hes the closest thing we have to world peace, hes basically expresed himself through this film, and its worked on me, dono about everyone else. Also, the depression that most people get (and me) is only because you want to live like them, maybe not exacly like them, but mostly, if your depresed then its because you want world peace and so on, if you've got humanity then when you watch this film, you'll feel something special, and maybe even change your ways in life, like me, live life to the full, don't let the film get you down just because you want to live like them, we're never going to live there on Pandora, but we can fight for what we've still got left on this Planet and not give up on it.

Don't bother yourself with those critics. You are right many movies has si similar plots. It's the way how you tell and develop the story details what counts. And in AVATAR it's so well done, that I simply can't describe it with words. The feeling after my first watching was very special, non-similar to any other movies.

BTW: I noticed that you made your first post here Joey. This place is full of people who feel teel the same way about AVATAR.
    So... Welcome !

Nice to meet you, Navimano1, and good post. I agree wholeheartedly with all you say.

You're right, when you come to think about it, all movies (and stories) have probably been done before. It is extremely rare to find a movie that does not borrow at least in some ways from past greats. So in that sense, Avatar is no different. But, Avatar is different in that it has captured our imaginations and inspired us like no other movie before. There are so many theories and beliefs as to why that is, and they may be all valid, but personally I think having the Neytiri character is the trump card (no, I am not just one of those fanboys, LOL). To me, she is what really grounds the story and makes the viewer care on a deeply personal (male or female) level, not just an environmental level. Also, the interactions between Jake and Neytiri, i.e. their growing relationship, adds a sweetness and fulfillment to the story that I'm not sure any other sci-fi movie could match.

I think James Cameron said somewhere that he wanted to incorporate elements of films we have already seen before so the immersion is smoother.
