The Things you Laughed at (and wern't meant to)

Ok, so there are no 'flaws' to Avatar that actually hinder my enjoyment of the film in any way, but there were just one or two things that I thought were a bit silly and made me laugh, even though they probably wern't meant to:

1. "Trauma Kit!"
Whilst the scene where Grace Augustine is shot by Quaritch is a very serious, and sad, moment in the film, I find how much Norm's very loud exclamtion of "TRAUMA KIT!!!" contrasts with the rest of the scene kinda goofy. Maybe I'm just a bit to immature.

2. Mr Handlebars
During the scene where Quaritch briefs the soldiers on the final battle plan, what the hell is the dude at the front doing there?! Y'know who I mean, big, fat, balding, redneck guy. Do entry requirements to the army drop drastically in the future?

3. Quaritch's death
Why does the AMP suit fall over?

Interesting that you bring this up. Yes, there were definately parts like this.

Part 1: when hometree is being destroyed, and Neytiri's dad takes a look back, and we see a large splinter go through his side, all I could think about was "Owned". This has nothing to do with human triumph over Na'vi, but only due to the fact that the man wasn't ducking/sprinting away at full speed.

This effect grew more comical with each viewing of Avatar.

Part 2: when Jakes wrestles with his ikran-to-be, I ultimately ended up cheering for the ikran, and when jakes finally gets a hold of it I would think "damn, he got down and dirty with it"

Well, it was during my third viewing in which I took my mom with me. She can't really watch movies, mainly because she worries about characters to the point where she cringes at stuff. Her reactions during the destruction of Hometree were too much for me to take, and I was laughing throughout the scene I'm usually really affected by =p.

My first viewing, I couldn't help but laugh when Neytiri said, "We are mated for life." I don't really know why. It just sounded strange. And I feel like after she says that, there is this really awkward silence in the theatre (mostly since it fades to black). I don't know.
I also laughed when the RDA are preparing for battle and as one of the Scorpions flies off and they are all cheering, one guy's hat flies off in the background lol.

I didn't laugh at anything else other than the funny parts, but my friend did. She laughed like every time anyone yelled. It was sort of annoying. Like when Neytiri flies on Seze and gives out that sort of whoop, she laughed. When they are flying off on Toruk and Neytiri yells, she cracked up. And then during the battle when Jake is yelling and stuff. It was weird.

my first viewing, I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the scene where Neytiri holding Jake in his human form. Because someone who sat beside me said: "heehee. look at that. she looks like the mother, and jake is his baby."

Neytiri's emotion when she tells jake YOU WILL NEVER BE ONE OF THE PEOPLE ..i laughed so hard at that

The first time I saw it, I found the mating scene a little ridiculous. I think its because aliens hugging and kissing is something we SO NOT USED TO SEEING at the movies, y'know? like regular sex scenes are whatever, but alien sex?

its kinda like.....when I was younger, I went to an aquarium and I saw two dolphins mating in the tank just randomly and it was totally awkward, like, wtf why am I watching this

now I realize how dumb I was being; its one of the most beautiful parts of the film

my second viewing, during the Neytiri holding Jake part, my friend leans over and goes "look at her she's huge!" and the image is kinda funny, cause he's small

the part where the two bombs smash into each other and smashes a merc!, still funny

the part where they are about to leave for the bombing of the tree of souls, a mans hat gets blown of and you can see that he is pissed about that he almost got knocked over xD

an RDA merc getting his head bidding by an Ikran

the bald merc getting his *** owned by the hammerhead elephants, i am thinking about his facial expression

The scene when Jake tames his Ikran, what Tsu Tey does do one of the Na'vi that is cheering Jake on is worth a giggle. I didn't even notice the first time I watched it!

As unintentional, Quaritch's face is worthy of lolz.
