Default Some Avatar pre-production pages I recently purchased

Last April there was a lot of Avatar production material listed AVATAR - Production Materials : Lot 96

I didnt know about this when it was originally bid on however I was able to buy this lot from the winning bidder in Australia this past month.

I know some of you might find the things I got interesting so I scanned some of the items in it and wanted to share them with you all. I know the quality isnt the greatest I just have a cheap scanner built into my printer.

Here is the link to the Gallery the pictures are in so you can click on the pictures and see the full sized scan if you are interested in reading the words in the pictures (which is the best part of the pictures) Avatar Production Materials - Avatar Gallery

This is just a pre-production picture of a link unit.

This one is worth clicking on to see the larger full scan image, it details how the Dragon set they are going to be building will also be redressed as the Valkyrie Shuttle.

This is the scorpion, it mentions building the interior cockpit and 3 ft past the windows for the exterior shots.

The next three pages just detail the costly design and build process of the Dragon, Scorpion, Valkyrie, and Link Units used in the movie.

    Page 3

This is a Simul-cam layout of a shot, worth clicking on in the gallery to read the words clearly.

This is a map of the same simul-cam shot, I think you will recognize the layout from the movie, the full sized image is also the best on this one.

This is a MOCAP layout of a scene that was not in the movie with Norm Spellman and Akwey, I found it really interesting.

Told you already mate, this is most definitely the coolest, sickest, most Original piece of an Avatar collection IMO, nice one chief Really interesting, you get to see what actually structured and influenced the film we love so much, what was involved and created to make it all happen.

I really have no idea who wrote on it tm20...haha honestly I hadn't even thought that it could be his, would be awesome if it was

I know stuff is expensive but I was blown away at how much just the link
    units alone cost.

The cost breakdown is interesting, we tend to forget that alot of effort was put into the life action sets along with the virtual ones.

interesting you mention that because alot of the time, if not all the time, the real sets were only partially built and they used CG to mirror what was captured of the real set to complete the rest.

also was the scorpion set even built? I seem to remember that they only ever have about 2 or 3 close-ups of its. Could be it planned to play a bigger part but was cutdown to just a smaller set like the AMP?
