Ninat, Neytiri, and Peyral (screen capture)

Neytiri gives Jake the alternative choices of Ninat and Peyral for mates.



As far as we know we never see them in the movie.

I'm not sure if someone else has mentioned this, but it never occurred to me until looking at this scene for material today.

At the Tree of Souls I would imagine those near the tree are important, but there are two additional unknown Na'vi.

By process of elimination this is what I came up with.



Is that Ninat and Peyral?

Who are they?

What is their importance?

Are they close friends of Neytiri?

Although I've seen Avatar many times and have seen this scene over and over I never made the connection until today.

Some of you may have already come to this conclusion due to the speculation of the high pitched singer being Ninat.

Anyone care to add any thoughts, ideas, theories, or more speculation?

well,i agree and believe that one of the two women is Ninat,which one i don't know,and Ninat is the best singer of the clan,so of course,she is up on the stage,so to speak. Peyral is a good hunter,but we have no idea if her singing voice stood out from everyone else. for all we know,the other woman is a relative of Neytiri,maybe another sister. it is only stated that the dearly departed Sylwanin was Neytiri's sister,not her only sister. i personally believe that Peyral is down in the crowd with the other hunters and warriors.

James Cameron made it a point to have that scene setup like that and there's no explanation for it beyond speculation of course.

There's really no way to be right or wrong, but the only conclusion I can come to is... that must be Ninat and Peyral.

The only reason I even made the connection is because Neytiri specifically speaks of two other women and in that scene she's sitting next to two unknown women.

I'm surprised that between December 18th, 2009 and now no one has come up with this. Ninat has a basic Wiki with a picture and a theory of who they suspect she is, but Peyral is an unknown and her Wiki is basically blank. In discussions most people believe Peyral is that young huntress that accompanies Jake and the others to choose their Ikran... and that could be her next to Neytiri at the Tree of Souls. Neytiri says "Ninat is best singer" and in this scene sitting to Neytiri's left you see a Na'vi woman who sings with a higher pitched voice. Perhaps to the Na'vi singing that way sounds best. To me Neytiri sounds better in that scene, but I'm biased.

I believe most people are like me... they get to this scene and end up just focusing on Neytiri or Jake so everything else fades out. That happens to me a lot.

I love that woman But honestly, I never thought that was Peyral... Not to diminuish her, she may be incredibly good, I bet she is, but simply because as we saw, that young Omaticaya lady became a hunter, Taronyu, in the same period Jake did, yes she may be talented, but I'm guessing Peyral is someone a bit older and experienced, someone like Neytiri... For Neytiri to mention her as one of the 'Finest' As anyhow, it's up to each individual to know whom is their personal Finest companion Just my opinion

As for the thread picture Eternal Enigma posted, in my opinion we don't really know who Peyral is... She might be one of those 3 lovely ladies, excluding Neyney and Ninat bearing in mind I'm not sure of her identity either, so I'm just totally theorizing here

This is one of the real problems with Avatar that I have, they introduce alots of things, especially in the last section (the different clans) yet don't really explain/develop it. Sure some of its probadly in the deleted scenes But it seems that Avatar is crying out for exapansion material. Yet we've got nothing. Perhaps it all suppost to be exotic and wonderful and we're just suppost to lie back and accept it. But I'm the kind of person who wants explanations about the things in the background and to know the minor characters. Say what you like about the Star War prequels atleast the EU developed the jedi in the background into their own characters with personalities.

Thanks... that's why I made this thread because I really don't believe most people give some of the underlying elements of this scene much thought.

I have some of the same issues with the lack of information in certain areas of the story and I hope now that the technology has been developed and for the most part Pandora has been fleshed out James Cameron can add more small details to make for an even better storyline. I would say that I hope some of the unanswered questions are answered in the sequels, but according to many sources it seems that the sequels are going to be nothing like their predecessor. In interviews seen in news articles James Cameron has said there would be three unique stories so I would imagine we're going to have more questions than answers.

We may never know who Ninat and Peyral are, but does that destroy the overall integrity of the story?

I honestly don't believe so because most fans are either following one of three things...

1. Neytiri

2. Jake

3. Pandora

It is a bit unfair because out of the three Na'vi women to choose from the only one we get to see is Neytiri, but I'm confident that I would still choose her.

The vibe I got about Avatar before the announcement for the sequels is that James Cameron was going to make it a single release and there would only be one Avatar movie until he saw that it had such a large following and he decided it would be a good business move to extend the story. That and I believe James Cameron wanted to add more to Avatar and quickly realized that you are simply unable to tell the entire story with just one movie. If you look at the delete scenes clearly he had plans for adding additional details, but due to time limitations he was forced to exclude those scenes. If he knew for a fact that Avatar was going to be a big box office hit he probably would have dove deeper into background character development, but spending so much money to produce a movie like Avatar and have it bomb would have been a financial disaster. James Cameron took a risk with this movie, but now that he knows there is a market for it the sequels should be more detailed than the first.

The sequels better be damn good too, because with these films and the original hype behind Avatar people are going to be comparing these films and they're going to be very critical. How is Avatar 2 going to rank against the first one? A lot of people who went and saw the first one walked away hating the movie so they're unlikely to go see the second one so there are already going to be financial losses. People are going to be picking these movies apart especially if they don't do as well.

Above all I'm not worried about how much the movie makes at the box office or where it ranks as long as I like it.

Fans of Avatar are obviously excited about more movies, but we also need to prepare ourselves for a legion of haters.

I'm pretty sure that ninat and peyral are close friends to neytiri. because I wouldn't say it to jake when I wouldn't like it.

I think it would be harder to tell wich one is ninat/peyral (and vica versa)
