Default Living Na'vi Style... in the Wild!?!

We've all been effected on an emotional level by the movie Avatar in some way or another. For example, most of us have had the Pandora effect. But given the chance how many of us would actually take the leap of chance and live like the na'vi... for real, here on earth? I've been thinking about it I've come to the conclusion that I probably would. Im curious as to what everyone else would do.

So would you give up everything you know and live in the wild like the Na'vi?

Definitely its something I have considered long before I saw Avatar. I plan on taking some survival courses first/attending survival school. Then maybe try at sustainable living, maybe get a job at a survival school. One thing I'm trying to do in the next two years is a course at BOSS (epic wilderness survival course).

I've thought about it a couple of times myself before Avatar aswell. But never in a serious way. To be honest I don't think I could handle it unless I was with a whole bunch of people, in a tribal sorta setting.

Think about taking a survival course. Most are in a group setting. I know at BOSS you're usually in a group of 10 or so, though in the longer courses you have to spend some time alone. There are 7, 14, and 28 day courses. Think about doing something like that, I'm sure there's plenty others too, thats just the one I'm personally considering. It'll give you a chance to experience that kind of lifestyle for a short period. If you find out it fits you, you can go further with it. If not, well then you know its not for you.

I like that idea, but yeah Tihawnu is right.
If it was me I'd go and organise a group or something only after we can identify plants, ect and shoot accurate arrows.
Not only that but most land is private or national parks so you'd have to search for a proper place to start with

A group survival course sounds good, ill definately look some up in my local area. It also sounds like a good idea to try the lifestyle out first in a safe setting like a course.

As for where a whole bunch of people could go and live in the wild, I would have no idea. As you said, there are alot of national parks now. Besides, all the "good places" would be taken by tribes living there already. Of course another idea is to try and join them

I would go DEFINATELY! but only in a group setting like a tribe. I would love to get something like this in motion, only trouble is that we all live in different countries :(

I heard that David Copperfield owns his own island. If I owned a tropical island, I would try it. One can dream cant they?

Why couldn't we get something like this going? If it was organised well (all had the proper survival training, plus governement permission in the place we chose etc.) and we had enough enthusiastic people im sure could get off the ground so to speak. It would be extremely hard but it could work if we had enough dedicated people.... and the funds to pull it off.

great idea! then you could buy a couple a acres/miles of land and let it get overgrown so it could be like jungle.
Then it would be safe and legal
