earlier today, Porthos and me asked ourselves if there is a need/wish/market for life size Na'vi statues/dolls with certain features:
- metallic skeleton for minimum frame stability
- plastic casing, surrounded by a 0,5in (1,2cm) thick rubber coating, which resembles the skin and makes it feel like such
- Joints at it's knees, thighs, hip, upper arms and lower arms - so it's fully movable to any position (standing, sitting on a table, lying, standing bended over)
- Tail and Fingers are based on copper wire, coated with the rubber skin as all other parts of the body, so they are fully flexible
- Overall weight, ca 30KG / 65LBS and very robust
- 'real' hair - braided or unbraided (what would you prefer to see?)
The result would be something which would look pretty much exactly like Neytiri or Tsu'tey, any kind of clothes can be put on, loin clothes or a puffy winter jacket, would be the owners choice. The owner could sit next to a Na'vi on a sofa and watch TV, if someone would make a snapshot of them two and post it on the net, it would look epic for sure! I personally think a real size na'vi one is more acceptable as it would be hard to assume a dwarfed human sized na'vi to be realistic. And because they are flexible, they fit to any human dwelling, even they stand 10 feet tall (if they stand upright). Japanese, Chinese or Korean doll manufacturers could and would be able to produce them at reasonable cost.
Now your opinion:
1) Option A - Neytiri or Option B - Tsu'tey?
2) Braided or unbraided hair?
3) Align with FOX / JC (would be also a good marketing tool for them till Avatar II appears in theaters!), asking for copy right to produce them OR producing something similar, with other names?
4) Do you prefer a simply doll as written above OR such one but with communicative capabilities and being able to walk and dance? In Japan there are several companies specialized on those sophisticated dolls.
It's just an idea at this point but it's doable. What do you think?![]()
