"If there is life after death, there is no death. And if there's no death, we do not live."
I think because at that point the Na'vi were defending the balance of life, when most of them were killed/retreated, Eywa needed to act.
Thanks to Uniltìranyu for his awesomeness and for making my avatar.
"To become taronyu, Hunter, you must
choose your own ikran. And he must choose
you." "When?" "When you are ready."
"I've already choosen. But this woman must also choose me".
"She already has."
I think it's the "just-in-time" thing. I'm not sure how "smart" Eywa is, but she wasn't going to just go stomping all over the humans, even if she knew what they were up to. They actually had to do it first. Then the hammer dropped.
I think that as soon as Neytiri was in imminent danger from the approacing RDA, Eywa decided it was time kick some serious ***. No way was she going to allow Neytiri to be killed.

Eywa only protects the balance of life.
Ney'tiri said it best when she said " Eywa doesn't chose sides, She just protects the balance of life" When the RDA were advancing, Eywa probably saw that the balance was being upset and she has to step in.
There must always be a balance
But in real life their never is.

I'm proud to be HUMAN!!!!
I don't think Eywa had any intention of interfering until it started going so badly. At that point, she had to fear for the survival of the Na'vi as a race and had to act. Also, yeah, even a deity isn't going to let Neytiri die![]()
Well if she is a deity she should have known that Navi were going to get butchered by humans before the battle commenced. Even I knew that(like any sensible human) Na'vi had no chance against humans who had such monstrous technology at their side.
I think a creature with the ability to create the universe(or at least Pandora) should have some sense and vision(which seems to be missing in Eywa). Or as the topic suggests Eywa is sadistic or bored so she wants to see some action and blood?
"If there is life after death, there is no death. And if there's no death, we do not live."
I think that Eywa might of had to see how things were going to turn out, she wanted to make sure that the Na'vi wern't going to be able to make it and step in finally. Because if something like this were ever to happen again she doesn't want the Na'vi to get "Cocky" and have Eywa at their call whenever they need help, only as a last resort.
