I do not do this because I just do no care what people think of what I do lol. I read other replies about how they are embarrassed of what they may think. I just wanted to see how you guys react to this situation. Never feel discouraged to or hide your appreciation for something you love

I don't hide them, but I don't go around proclaiming my love for it either. If the subject comes out I mention I really liked it but I don't go completely crazy!

Same as above, If the topic comes up, I participate and will admit that it's my favorite movie. But I make a conscious effort to not talk too much, else I end up talking everybody's ear off.

I do hide them. I pronounce them and all I get are stares. I'm used to staring at other folks so I'm quite used to it, but when they ask you a question like,"Dude..... the f@ck man. Really!", I get alittle derailed inside. I try to salvage those situations into casual talks so I can leave knowing they didn't bark me out of the convo. My brother (roommate) already thinks I'm a nut so how much harm would it be if I got a few Neytiri posters and a really awesome tribal necklace?.... exactly.

I hide them by sneaking questions into conversations, if they did enjoy the movie, I go all out.
Cameron may have born Pandora, but living there must be made by your own hands. I have made Pandora with my hands, with color, oil, paint, and pencil.

Like Pandora, it was hard work. Apply it to anything, you'll see the most complex of dreams come to life.

I will not be the first one to bring it up. Also, I limit my discussion based on the apparent (dis)interest of those around me.

I'm not evangelical about it. If someone asks me my opinion I let them know. Somehow I have the feeling that they get more than they intended.

If you're not living on the edge you are taking up too much space.

Well I've recommended a few friends to go see the movie based on their personalities, and every one that I've told to go has gone and loved the movie. The ensuing conversations are always enlightening and fun. I don't go around professing my love for the movie and pushing my thoughts on everyone because that is just wrong. But if the subject comes up, I'm not ashamed to say how the movie has influenced me to be a better person, and how it has made me come to see the world in a new light.

What it comes down to is not the subject matter but the way you go about it. Like for me, other than Avatar, I also love talking nonstop about cars, supermodels, Lance Armstrong, etc. People roll their eyes at me but then they're on their merry way.

So, if you like expressing your love of Avatar to others or not, its all good. It is what it is. But you shouldn't feel afraid or embarrassed. You are who you are.

I'll talk a lot about Avatar to anyone who will listen about it. What I don't talk about is how deep the emotional connection goes or just how much I love it. There's a difference between just discussing a movie with enthusiasm, and telling people it brings you to tears, the soundtrack brings you to tears, it's causing large and positive changes to your life, etc. Those effects are not something most people are going to understand coming from "just a movie". I'd likely need to hear fluent Na'vi or know the person from the forums here before I'd feel comfortable talking about those things.
