    Default The Ground Zero Mosque

Ok, all this talk in the media over this damn thing is really getting to me, especially when we have much, much, MUCH bigger issues facing us.

Anyway, my position is, let them build the damn thing and let's move on, and here's why.

    - It's not AT the WTC, it's 4 blocks from the world trade center. That seems far enough away for me.

    - There's nothing "hallowed" about the land around the WTC. Yes, it was a sad disaster, but the land wasn't made hallowed by it. If it's so sacred, why are things like a strip club allowed there. A mosque would probably be the most sacred thing there.

    - There are already two mosques in the neighborhood, one on the street that this proposed mosque will go. Nobody's raising a stink about them.

    - The plans for this mosque date back to before 9/11. Even if 9/11 didn't happen, this thing would still have been built.

    - There are other cases of structures being built in areas where the same people attacking the area. There's a Buddhist temple near Pearl Harbor, and Christian Churches in Nagasaki. No controversy then, why now.

    - The people who oppose it have a long history of xenophobia.

So, what do you guys think?

    I think people need to

    about it.

It'll get built, and people need to HTFU about it.

There will always be rabble rousers, like the woman from indiana who somehow found islamic propaganda in the baby sounds coming from her childs DS game.

Even if the plans went up after the towers went down, it wasn't the islamic faith that attacked us, it was people who warp and distort that faith to justify beheading mothers and children and blowing up civilians in the name of Allah. That I do NOT support.
I wish that we could stay here, but I fear our time has come, and we shall ride out in the darkness, chasing the rising sun.

Scientists once aimed the great Hubble Telescope at the black featureless silent void between the stars. As they peered into that black abyss, they were blinded by the light of a billion stars shining from a trillion galaxies. This universe is not empty, but bursts with worlds as yet unseen and unknown.

I agree with Tsyal, they should just build it. I dont get why its such a big problem to begin with either. All these heated arguements about this, people need to get a grip.

I agree with you guys. People are making way too big of a deal about it. Although, I do get frustrated by it sometimes. What really bothers me is the hate, intolerance, ignorance, and just plain stupidity. Like said before, it wasn't the Islamic faith that attacked us. It was a small group of radicals that unsurprisingly gave the title "terrorist" to every muslim in the world.

This story actually frustrates me a bit. I mean, not a lot, but I just can't help shaking my head seeing people so intolerant. Some people I can bear, who think they should just move it. Others, the ones who think this is a good time to start banning mosques and burning Qur'an's.

    Stay thirsty my friends...

I agree it should be allowed to be built, that said I will point out.

-Islam was the weapon, like the saying guns don't kill people...people kill people, Islam was the gun used by evil minded people to send America a message.

-I will not defend a religion that punishes people by severing their limbs, stoning people to death, whipping their flesh raw, having women punished with violence for being raped, etc etc. Until the people of Islam unite and defeat the evil scourge that is Sharia law I will not stand up and defend that religion as it is anti-humane.

Sharia does not punish women for being raped (at least Sharia as intended by Allah does not... Sharia which is corrupted by Imams, who want to use religion as a club to keep their women down, does, but that is not true Sharia) Sharia punishes people for public fornication, it requires four witnesses to prove. How else would there be four witnesses of fornication, unless it is in public? If a couple are to commit fornication in their own home, there will not be four witnesses, so no punishment... As for the other punishments, if people don't want to be punished in that way, then they should not break the law. There is actually nothing in the Qur'an which says a person should be stoned, and in fact, in the Bible, it says that he who is without sin should cast the first stone (meaning no one is without sin, therefore no one should throw the stone) As I have discussed in another thread, Islam is actually a very tolerant religion, if one is simply to read and understand the Qur'an, rather than going by the 'organized' behavior of the Sunni and Shia Muslims.

Sell it the the woman in Iran who might be put to death by stoning for the crime of having sex!

Further more, the people who carry out these punishments are barbaric, sadistic bastards, the same kind of people Hitler used to run his concentration camps. They enjoy torturing people, making them scream.

let me ask you, could you lop off a man's head or hand because your religious leaders told you to do so? Could you gouge out someone's eyes as a job? Could you show up for a paycheck when the money was earned by wielding a lash and laying open tender flesh? If you answer yes, may God have mercy upon your cruel, heartless soul.
