Default Could Na'vi and Humans exist together?

I think they could. It seems to me that the Na'vi, while having enormous respect for their environment do some of the typical resource gathering things that we do. For example, their bows have to come from somewhere (Supposedly hometree, but I don't know if that's literal or not) so they must have to have some sort of wood cutting methods. And if they have wood-cutting methods, then they might have some sort of metal-working to make tools that could cut wood.

I feel like a community of humans, with sustainable sources of energy, environmentally safe ways of mining (It seems like in a century and a half that they would be able to make synthetic Iron and thus Steel, but whatever) for minerals and a system of agriculture that doesn't cause erosion or land degradation.

I think they could co-exist, there might be some tension and mis-understanding and this might come to blows but I certainly don't believe that these two communities would be condemned to a life or death conflict like depicted in the movie.

We probably could, but we would have to change our ways radically. And, I mean radically. Our present mindset just wouldn't work, pure and simple. Humans need to grow up on so many fronts before they even have the maturity and conscience to be able to coexist with a culture like the Na'vi. A simple look at our own history would show what the outcome would likely be, given that we really haven't changed all that much despite our progress technically (and on some social fronts).

With the way humanity is living now and its values, Im going to have to say no. Which is sad because the Na'Vi are very spiritual and peaceful, we as humans are just corruptible and I don't think could fathom a change as radical as this one. Somehow someway, we would ruin a beautiful thing like we always tend to do. (Except for the posters here, I believe we would be able to coexist!)

As we stand as a race now? No, definitely not. We would really have to swallow our own pride and learn from The Na'vi, as they would from us.

But for us to live in harmony together, we need to change significantly, we almost have to evolve completely. Our biggest problem would be the military and government.

At a risk of making it sound like we're somehow better than everybody else on this earth...

I think WE could. (Speaking about the people on this forum.)

We have a connection to the Na'vi and their way of life even if we have never actually (or never will) encounter them.

I'd like to think that the majority of people on this forum desire to live a more 'Na'vi' lifestyle so living alongside them in a partnership would be ideal. (For me I know this is the truth at least.)

As for everybody else, I believe what others have said, as a race we would have to grow up and learn to respect our, and their, environment a lot more before a stable relationship could be set up.

I wonder what the appearance of a naturally born offspring off a human and na'vi would look like

Many humans still can't deal with other humans who are slightly different. So an alien race? No chance.

Some humans (including many of us here) could certainly co-exit with the Na'vi but we would have to make some pretty drastic lifestyle changes. I am sure many of us would be willing to make the needed changes.
