Default Wainfleet.... a bit too enthusiastic?

last night i watched Avatar again and realized something, when hometree is about to get destroyed we see Wainfleet at the door gun yelling "get some!"......but why is he even there? what was he going to do, shoot hometree until it collapsed? -___- were they expecting the banshees to fly out so they could shoot them? i don't know, this topic probably isn't worth a new thread but anyway, if you also agree that wainfleet is a bit of a....dumbass then you're welcome to comment

The Scorpions and the Dragon ending up being enough to easily destroy hometree, I could see the Samson being there in case something happened and a Scorpion crashed they could land and help any possible survivor and Wainfleet would have needed to try and fend off Na'vi but yeah where they were at there wasnt anything he could do with that gun! It just really reinforced his obnoxiousness of wanting to shoot every and any thing lol.

He was probably there with his gun to shoot and kill any Na'vi that might pose a threat (i.e., aerial attack from Na'vi on Ikrans) to the attack fleet.

Either that or to kill any Na'vi on the ground.
Here's my Avatar fan fiction. Give it a read, if you're so inclined.

Yeah, I agree man, I mean, I think he's just the usual patriotic war-enthusiastic, that cheers when people die, or suffer... horrid man... A tipical character for viewers to hate, I think it's done on purpose, and it happens in other films too, may action films... anyhow, yeah, he's a wanker, thats his definition, the point is, he GETS SOME from Pandora in the end!

Wainfleet was the assigned waist gunner for Trudy’s Sampson. That is where he was stationed during any Science Team shuttle missions. Because of his status in SecOps, he is likely keeping an eye on the Science Teams and was placed there by Quaritch. Remember, Trudy needed another Waist Gunner (Jake) because “We are not the only things out there or the biggest.”

As far as a dumbass, yep. And look where it got him...a flat *** !

Apparently Wainfleet is named for a rural town in southern Ontario, around James Cameron's hometown of Cippeawa, which the subject of a lot of jokes. Possibly that's what Wainfleet's character is kinda based on, which adds a bit, don't you think?
It means "Wind Rider" in Na'vi.
