Trudy + Norm?

The inner lives of Norm & Trudy on Pandora aren't explored much in the movie. We saw bits & pieces of them and understood their major characteristics and desires to do the right & moral thing but not much else. Without more of that side story to develop the chemistry between them, that scene could show up as a rather distracting visual. It wouldn't hurt the story but its contribution would be minimal. I'm not opposed to seeing them flirt in the bg though.

Norm and Trudy....odd couple much??

I'm kind of glad that was left out, it seems pretty pointless and really random.

Jake get's to run around with the Na'Vi all day, what does everyone else do? You can only play slapjack sooooo many times before it gets boring.

I like that it would be used to explain the improvement of Norm's attitude, at first he's pissed cause Jake is getting all the attention and hasn't trained at all while Norm spent 5 years prepping for this and he's relegated to the sideline, heck I'd be pissed too, then ending up hooking up with Trudy... yeah i'd be in a better mood for sure!

I 'll wait for DVD to pass judgment.

After seeing the movie for the third time I think I would actually like Trudy and Norm. They're cute together =] Whoever said it did make a good point though- that the other humans did pretty much nothing but sit around for the three months while grace and jake were out kanoodleing with the na'vi.

At this rate, I'm still calling it a "fan-pairing." (A good one at that!) This whole script, thing is just drugs for the people who like it.

I see the chemistry. Trudy wants a guy who will treat her right! And Norm... yeah. 0.0 Woo, for cheese. I have to agree that yeah, it does take up "extra space" in the movie (extra space I, myself would be willing to watch. xD) but even so. A nice idea.

I read about this. Trudy apparently has a crush on Norm and when she is just about to get blown up by the missile in the big battle scene she screams out to norm over the com "I love you" or something like that. He then replies "Trudy, No!" because he knows shes about to die. I am sorry but I think that there is no way Trudy would of found Norm to be attractive.

Or better character development, whatever Cameron actually intended to do with the scene.

Cameron was wise to cut it. There needed to be even more than what was in the script to make it believable. Otherwise, as you say, it would have been comic relief.

There was a little bit of Norm and Trudy in the movie. During one of Jake's video logs in "the shack" you can see Norm wearing what looks like white pajamas while Trudy is sitting the edge of the bed. They look like they're flirting.

There's a scene earlier on, where they're riding in the helicopter and Trudy is teaching Norm how to fly, and he's all nervous and whatnot. There may have been more but that's the only one I recall.

This could have worked if the interactions between Norm and Trudy and been explored in the film - but they were not. So no, it doesn't sound right to me. I also think that any kind of relationship they had was really a secondary story and not central to the plot.

I could see some cute things with this idea - like Norm coming to Jake and saying he likes Trudy, what should he do? That kind of interaction could have deepend Norm and Jake's friendship. And because Norm and Trudy are so different, it could have been kind of funny too! But, like I said, it is not central to the story and moving the plot forward, so of course it was cut in the film.
