    Default Norm Riding A Direhorse

During the final battle Norm rides the Direhorse (sp?), would he have already known how to make the bond with the horse and control it or would he have been a crash-course into how to make the bond and ride a Direhorse between when Jake rallies the clans and the start of the final battle?

Years of training and a Ph.D really pay off.

I think that he got a crash cours from Jake and also when he trained for the mission.

I started having these dreams of flying. I was free.
But sooner or later, you always have to wake up.

I always wondered about that too. I mean, it took Jake ages to ride it right.
Maybe Jake was able to explain it better to Norm or something.

Yeah but Jake never really got the hang of it. He even said "I'm not much of a horse guy."

    I forgot about that-valid point.
I'm not sure, maybe it's proof that Norm is just fantastic.

Would you expect a human, who has only recently regained the use of his legs after being crippled and confined to a wheelchair, to be able to hop up on a horse and learn to ride with no troubles? Now would you expect the same human, with zero training and zero link time, to be able to hop into an Avatar and learn to ride an alien horse on a different planet with no troubles?

Norm didn't have any of those handicaps, and who knows he could already have learned horse riding back on Earth. So he'd have a couple days to learn how to bond with a direhorse with perhaps Neytiri and Jake as teachers.

Maybe Norm has more experience using his brain to control things since he has been in Avatar training for so long. An other option is that part of the earth based avatar training was simulation of riding creatures on Pandora. I am sure humans knew Navi could bond with local animals.
Don't be so scared of dying that you never learn to live!
