    Default Steampunk Avatar

I have no idea where this should belong, but my guess, since this would somewhat of a art/writing/modding thing, but is anyone interested in steampunk?

What about a Steampunk version of Avatar?

My idea: RDA is the Royal Resources Department Agency that wants to mine unobtainium on Pandora. Add steampunk elements like goggles, steam-powered mining equipment and replace the Dragon with an armored zeppelin with turret guns. Jake Sully's wheelchair would be based off of old variations of wheelchairs with some brass fittings. His Avatar mode would have green lensed goggles, a standard collar shirt and heavy boots as well as a large elephant gun with some kind of steampunk engineering. The Na'vi would have a chalcolithic (meaning Copper Age) society, were they find copper and turn it into weaponry and jewelry. I would probably leave Eywa and the Tree of Souls alone, but maybe with a little more steampunkish flavor it could be that it's powered by some kind of "etheric" energy. As for the Samsons and Scropians would be tilt-rotor helicopters, but with steampunk workings and as for the face masks, I think they could be gas masks (a la WWI) with attached oxygen tanks. The AMP suits might be riveted steampowered robot suits. The animals would remain the same, as would the characters, though a change of wardrobe would be in effect: Grace wearing a Victorian dress, Trudy wearing something out of Sky Captain, Quadritch in some kind of military officier's uniform, Selfride with bowl hat and waistcoat, and Norm with a newsboy cap instead of that baseball cap.

Just some ideas I'm throwing around, but move to General Avatar forum if this is the wrong place to put this.
It means "Wind Rider" in Na'vi.

this is a very interesting idea. They did it for Star Wars, why not for Avatar?

    Sounds interesting
Only one thing... zeppelins? Then all the Na'vi would need was fire arrows :D

I was thinking of armored zepplins, or perhaps a flying fortress for the Dragon.

Maybe the Na'vi would have swords, something close to a Barsoomian version of Pandora, with a jungle though.

Well heck, change the Unobtainium to Upsidaisyum or Liftwood or Cavorite or something like that and not only do you have your armored zeppelins (with no fire risk) but a really good reason for the RDA to come to Pandora in the first place.

    Cool idea, actually....

Actually I've made scribbles of air-ships some time ago (something between WWI battleships and old zepplins). With little changes it would match quite good to this idea.

I'll search for and redraw it.. unfortunately, I'm going to write the first part of my final exams this friday, after that, I'll contribute something

    Upsidaisium? Rocky and Bullwinkle anyone?

Also for the Na'vi, I was thinking they would have some other steampunkish elements to their world, like copper tipped arrows.

For the Avatars, I was wondering to do the whole transfer thing or how the pods would look. I was thinking something on the line of how the original pods from the movie looked, but maybe with a velvet cushion lining, and wires and stuff to connect the human controllor to their Avatar. As for the Avatars themselves, maybe they were created in riveted tanks.
