Who thinks there shouldn't be a sequel?

I think there shouldn't be a sequel. The essence of the movie was Jake torn between 2 worlds, living in 2 bodies, eventually deciding and entering a new life. This storyline is now told.
A 2nd movie could be less good than the 1st one. Another war with RDA would just repeat parts of the story.
The end of Avatar leaves everything open for imagination how Jake's future will be. There are many fan fictions on this subject.

I understand how you feel. I have had the same thoughts. Where can this story go from here? Only to another battle with another invader. Not good. I do think there is a lot more we could learn about Pandora and the Na'vi culture, and the nature of Ewya, and I hope the next film goes deeper into these areas.

I believe JC has said that the next installment of the Avatar series won't be a pre-quel and he has said that some scenes were in the movie because they lead to the next film. He has his ideas, and I just hope he takes this in the right direction. There is no guarantee though. So I am not waiting anxiously for a sequel. I am just enjoying the original installment.

I would love a sequel for Avatar. It does have a good track record for sequels, and he has stated that he had more ideas that followed this movie in his original thought process of Avatar. So I am eagerly waiting for the positive for the sequel and hope it doesn't go pear shape.

I don't think the whole story was at the first one..
JC made a long story about na'vi back in 1995 and until now..
The story must be very huge to one movie!
This movie was may part 1,
there is more excited to wait to the second an third movie..
We want more adventure on pandora!!!!!!!!! :D

I loved Avatar and would love to see the world of Pandora and its inhabitants again but I'm not sure I want a sequel. With all the speculation as to who is directing it and where its going to take place and so on, I'm not sure it's worth the risk of making a sequel that what will be a flop. Avatar was perfect in every way, should we leave it there with the happy ending or should we continue on with the story? Of course none of this matters because Avatar 2 has already been confirmed, but is there anybody who thinks there shouldnt be a sequel or cant decide on whether or not there should be one like me?

Once again I really think that there shouldn't be a sequel.

However, it might actually be okay if instead of years after the first movie, it took place over two or three weeks directly following the end of the first movie, especially if, instead of more movies, it's a small television series (about 10 episodes, focusing on the two or three weeks directly where Avatar left off, and about an hour to an episode, that would be cool).
