Default No Grace for a sequel

Well I must first of all apologize to my fellow Avatarians. I have not been online in many weeks. The main cause for this is as soon as I come home from school the first thing I do is watch Avatar. Am I obsessed? yes indeed. Anyway. As much as I loved Grace. I dont think she should come back for the sequel...

Many people will disagree but, if she comes back it would seem so imature, and give her sense of loss in the first movie so, lack luster if you get my drift. If she were to just magiclly come back, it would take away to realism of life and death with in the Avatar world, and her death would have just seemed a waste of time for her just to come back straight after the war. Also, her body (human and avatar) would have been buried after her death. Why the hell would the Na'vi just leave her dead body there. I doubt being bought back by Eywa happens. Her avatar body is just as dead as her human body.. if not more dead. I dont think Grace should return as a proper character, maybe flashbacks. Nor do I want her tbh.

I want Grace to return but only in visions, flashbacks etc, it would seem tacky if she came back in person.

This bit is funny. How can anyone be more dead... than dead?

But I agree with you. Although if she made a comeback as a Toruk Makto like Jake did, I think everyone would get over it that she's dead, I mean... she is TORUK MAKTO!!!

Too bad they didn't have much time to transfer her conscience into her avatar body.

Why would you assume that? When an avatar is not being driven, it is unconscious but alive. Grace's avatar was in that state before the attempted consciousness transfer, and there is no reason it wouldn't be in that same state afterward. If it was subsequently buried, someone would have had to actually KILL IT.

Also, you know that "nerve tunnel" that you see when someone is linking to their avatar? You see that right before Grace "dies", but it ends in white light rather than her avatar's POV. That means, without a doubt, that her consciousness went SOMEWHERE.

So, back to the question... is Grace dead? Her human body is definitely dead, yes. Her avatar is probably alive, and her consciousness is within Eywa. There is no reason Eywa couldn't send her consciousness back into her avatar, as long as it stays alive.

If you really think Grace shouldn't come back, go watch Fellowship of the Ring, and ask yourself, should Gandalf come back? Well, in the next movie, he does, and he's a lot more powerful. He was sent back by the primary deity to finish what he started. I'm betting that the exact same thing will happen to Grace, and yes, she will be a lot more powerful as a result of her and Eywa absorbing all of each others' knowledge.

Interesting thought about having to kill her avatar, I wonder what they did with it?
Anyway if Eywa could send her back to the avatar, why she didn't do that once Grace was uploaded? Mo'at said she was too weak for the transfer, so apparently once you're dead you cannot go back, unless the mind of Grace and Eywa mixed together and Eywa didn't feel like taking a walk in her body lol.

I think that at some point of A2, Jake will link with the Tree of SOuls again, and we, the audience, will percieve that conversation as being between human Jake (not disabled) and human Grace (Eywa). The reason is that despite having a Na'Vi body, he still has a human soul, and unconciously would percieve it as such.

It's entirely possible that Eywa wanted to hold on to Grace's consciousness, at least for the time being. It was the first opportunity Eywa ever had to "download" a human consciousness, and she took it. It's even possible that Grace wanted this herself, once she realized that Eywa was real. Mo'at just assumed Grace was gone because her avatar didn't wake up, she had no way of knowing Eywa's motives.

Cameron loves Sigourney too much to not include her (evidence: every Alien movie).

My impression was that all the avatars would simply die from lack of food and water eventually if they remain unlinked -- since they are otherwise normal bodies. This leads me to conclude that Grace's avatar will be tended to by the scientists who remained behind, i.e. Max and Norm -- fed and hydrated intravenously or simply returned to the water statis chamber.
