I think the RDA had a contingency plan if the s**t hit the fan and Selfridge implemented it, something that will kill life on Pandora, while the humans travel to earth and come back. Mining will be much easier with no native life to interfere. I believe the scene was set when Selfridge walked by Jake in the end. To me the look was one of pity for Jake: “You’re dead and don’t even know it yet”.
In addition I think the scientists that are left behind (Norm etc.) will be instrumental in defeating what Selfridge did and we will now see the goodness in humans. (Unlike the first film that was about the bad in humans).
Finally, I think that the solution to the threat will be found in the seas, under the waves. (In the first scene the Jake and Neytiri swim effortlessly under the water. Maybe the Navi are amphibian??)
awhile ago i heard that avatar 2 take place on another of pandoras moons so maby the humans come back when the disease strikes and they have to battle rda and fly to a different moon witch norm and max say have the cure?? or maby theygo off on there little side mission and jake has to battle rda under water or something??
    "Have I gone mad?"
    "Afraid so entirely bonker's"
"but I'll let you in on a secret, All the best people are"

    AVATAR DAY DECEMBER 18th :D

Well I think I heard somewhere that James C's original idea for the Nav'i and indeed Neytiri was that they are aquatic like sapient beings with some form of webbed appendages and gills to breath under water, but perhaps he himself thought the idea was too alien and too complicated, so he tonned it down to what we've seen on the big screen.

which i think to me personally would of been too bizzare, since the Nav'i are in essence Humanoid, the take that away could of taken away the empathy of the viewer if you have a alien race that does not emote like a human does and can't relate to.

with regard to the OP, I think #4 is very probable.

I doubt that Grace will come back to life in the physical sense. But she may incarnate the image and voice of Ewya in Jake's mind. That makes complete sense to me.

I think #3 is a possibility. I think it is possible that the RDA may create an Avatar commando unit, although I am not inclined to assume what they will look like. There are various possibilities with this. It could be a straight fight, but it could be that Earth loses control of the Commandos sho become a threat to humans and Earth itself.

I have no real comment on #2. In general I would prefer not to focus on children in any of the sequels. Then again if Neytiri has a daughter we could end up with two Neytiri's. I think I would explode if that happened.

The timeframe assumptions in #1 are fair. But it is possible humans could turn up earlier. According to the survival guide there are several ships constantly on route. So it is likely that one could arrive in quite a short time. Also, we don't know if there are bases on other moons.

From my own point of view I suspect there will be a twist. I think the humans will attack again and almost be on the brink of victory. But then a new threat arises which threatens everyone leading to humans and Na'vi joining up to fight the new enemy. The end result may be that at least part of humanity ends up Pandora-ised. It is not inconceivable that Earth may be destroyed.
